Houston Food Bank’s f.r.e.s.h. Board The f.r.e.s.h. Board is the governing body of f.r.e.s.h. and is composed of its most committed members Expectations Goal: Engage young professionals with exclusive leadership opportunities to build a relationship with them while they are early in their careers The f.r.e.s.h. Board is composed of up to eleven (11) members with (two (2) appointed co-chairs who serve a one (1) year term) o Need to submit application for consideration on f.r.e.s.h. Board $1,000 Annual Pledge and twenty (20) volunteer hour commitment – This can be fulfilled through company match, personal contribution, sponsorships, or hosting events that require a donation o $100 “membership”/deposit of annual pledge to secure f.r.e.s.h. Board position o Members will setup a personal fundraising page through TeamRaiser o Deadline for the pledge/commitment is June 30, 2016. Will select a HFB program annually to learn about and support One (1) Year Commitment - Must reapply each year Members are expected to attend the f.r.e.s.h. Board Retreat/Orientation Members are expected to attend f.r.e.s.h. Board meetings every other month where we discuss the following: o Planning for upcoming events o Educational presentations from HFB staff (i.e. Reggie about Allocation for Change) Tentative Timeframe April 3, 2015 – f.r.e.s.h. Board applications due April 24, 2015 – f.r.e.s.h. Board selections notified June, 2015 – f.r.e.s.h. Board Retreat/Orientation July 1, 2015 – f.r.e.s.h. Board official start June 30, 2016 – f.r.e.s.h. Board pledge/commitment deadline Committee Involvement f.r.e.s.h. Board members will be appointed to serve on a following f.r.e.s.h. committees: o Fundraising o Educational o Membership If a f.r.e.s.h. member is interested in joining the f.r.e.s.h. Board, they will need to show involvement by serving on a committee All f.r.e.s.h. Board members are expected to be involved in a committee Board Interaction Potential for two (2) members from the f.r.e.s.h. Board are required to attend HFB Board Meetings as an observer and must deliver a Board Report to the f.r.e.s.h. Board One (1) HFB Board Member will attend a f.r.e.s.h. Board meeting to deliver a brief discussion of their role on the HFB Board and why they are involved at least once a year After completing at least three (3) years of service on the f.r.e.s.h. Board members are eligible for nomination to fill a Board committee position, Junior Trustee position, position on the HFB Board f.r.e.s.h.
