Speed
• How fast an object is moving.
• The rate in which an object covers a distance.
Symbol
Displacement
• How far out of place an object is.
• Sometimes can be referred to as “height”
• The objects over all change in position.
Symbol
Velocity
• The rate in which an object changes position.
• Vector quantity meaning “direction aware”
Symbol
Initial and Final Velocity
• Vi is typically equal to “0”
– The object is NOT moving…..yet!
• Vf is the final velocity of the object where the
object has stopped.
Height
• The amount of elevation an object has.
Symbol
Change
• Meaning there must be a DIFFERENCE
Symbol
Acceleration
• Rate in which an object changes its velocity
• An object is accelerating if it changes it’s
velocity.
Time
• Numerical amount that can be calculated or
measured.
Gravity
• Natural force that causes things to fall towards
the earth.
• Represented by “G”
