What is a Call-n-Ride? Additional Reservation Information: The Wheaton - Winfield Call-n-Ride is a reservation-based, shared-ride service for the general public that picks up passengers and takes them to destinations within the designated Call-n-Ride zone (see map). Additionally, the Wheaton Winfield Call-n-Ride also provides scheduled shuttle service between the Wheaton Metra Station and the DuPage County Judicial Center (see schedule). The Call-n-Ride vehicle is recognizable with its large green phone number and “Call-n-Ride” logo. Trip reservations are granted on a first come, first served basis. Reservations are needed for all rides except when a trip originates at or between the Wheaton Metra Station and the DuPage County Judicial Center as part of the Call-n-Ride shuttle. Reservations for rides are granted on a first come, first served basis, but pick-ups and drop-offs will take place in the most efficient order geographically. Drivers may combine individual trips to create shared rides. Other passengers’ destinations may not be directly in line with yours, so your patience is requested as the driver attempts to serve all destinations in a logical manner. How to Use Call-n-Ride First, make sure your pick-up and drop-off locations are within the Call-n-Ride zone (see map). Next, call 1-630-379-1976 and make a reservation at least one hour in advance of your desired pick up time. Reservations and calls are accepted between 6:30am and 6:45pm. The Wheaton - Winfield Call-n-Ride serves destinations on both sides of the service area’s boundary roads. Please note: locations outside the service area must be adjacent to the boundary road. Passengers will be dropped off and picked up at the closest, safe pedestrian walkway to the boundary road. In addition to offering on-demand service in the Call-n-Ride zone, the Wheaton - Winfield Call-n-Ride also provides scheduled shuttle service between the Wheaton Metra Station and the DuPage County Judicial Center (see schedule). The Wheaton Winfield Call-n-Ride shuttle follows a specific routing between the Wheaton Metra Station and the DuPage County Judicial Center and will stop at any intersection along the route where it is safe to do so (see map). Reservations are not needed when a trip originates at or between the Wheaton Metra Station and the DuPage County Judicial Center as part of the Call-n-Ride shuttle. Making a Reservation When scheduling your trip, provide your name, date of travel, pick-up location, destination and desired arrival time. The driver will inform you of your scheduled pick-up time. Please be ready at least fifteen minutes before your scheduled pick-up time. If your call is not answered, leave a voicemail with your call-back number and you will be called back within one hour. Please do not call or leave messages before 6:30am or after 6:45pm. These calls will not be returned. The last same-day reservation is taken at 5:45pm. For trips between 6:30am and 7:30am, please call the day before. You may schedule trips up to two weeks in advance. Recurring trips (for example, every Tuesday at 2pm) may be scheduled as a subscription trip if the desired time slot is available. Call-n-Ride Wheaton - Winfield Wheaton - Winfield Call-n-Ride If you make a reservation but later determine that you need to cancel, please do so immediately. Drivers do make record of passengers who reserve a trip but are not available for pick-up at the assigned time. Passengers who are recorded as “no-shows” multiple times will be prohibited from using the service in the future. Stay in the know! Sign up for automatic email updates anywhere you see this sign. 1-630-379-1976 Weekdays: 6:30am - 6:45pm Last same-day reservation accepted at 5:45pm PaceBus.com Fare, Passes and Transfers The fare for the Call-n-Ride service is $1.75 per one-way ride. Exact fare is required; the driver does not make change. Any unlimited-use, validated, date-stamped passes, like the Pace/CTA 30-day pass, can also be used (see full list below.) The Chicago Card, the Transit Card and other stored value cards are not accepted. Transfers to and from Pace fixed route services are $0.25; ask the driver for a transfer card. You can transfer to Routes 301, 709, 711, and 714. If you wish to transfer from a Pace fixed route to the Call-n-Ride, ask the fixed route operator for a transfer card. Since the Call-n-Ride is not a fixed route service, there are no reduced fares or free rides for seniors, Circuit Permit holders or those with the RTA Reduced Fare ID cards. However, law enforcement officers and firefighters in full uniform or presenting a badge and uniformed military personnel will ride for free on the Call-n-Ride. Additionally, free rides are permitted for up to two children younger than 7 years of age when accompanied by a fare-paying adult.
