ePAC Quick Reference – Contract Faculty
Changing a contract faculty in which Contract Data
exists and comp. frequency is “C” for the person for
the effective date entered:
1. Search by entering employee ID
2. click the employee name to start the PAC
3. Enter Effective Date
4. Select Action Reason
5. Make Change(s)
6. Click “Save” and/or “Continue”
7. Indicate if Earnings Distribution Change will
be made and click “Continue”
8. Review PAC Changes & Verify Approvers
9. Submit
Changing a current faculty from a comp. frequency
of “M” Monthly to a new comp. frequency of “C”
Contract-No Contract Data exists the faculty:
1. Search by entering the Employee ID
2. Click the employee name to start the PAC
3. Enter the Effective Date
4. Select Action Reason
5. Under Comp Freq put in a “C” for Contract
faculty
6. Change the Comp Rate to a “C” Contract rate
and select a Pay Rate Reason
7. Under “University Faculty Only” enter the
Academic Year (example 2008/2009)
8. Make any additional changes that are
necessary
9. Click “Save” and/or “Continue”
10. Indicate if Earnings Distribution Change will
be made and click “Continue”
11. Review PAC Changes & Verify Approvers
12. Submit
Changing a contract faculty in which Contract Data
DOES NOT exist for the effective date entered and
the comp. frequency is “C”:
1. Search by entering the Employee ID
2. Click on the employee name to start the PAC
3. Enter Effective Date
4. Select Action Reason
5. Under “University Faculty Only” enter the
Academic Year (example: 2008/2009)
6. Change Comp Rate for the Contract (if
changing) and Pay Rate Reason
7. Click “Save” and/or “Continue”
8. Indicate if Earnings Distribution Change will
be made and click “Continue”
9. Review PAC Changes & Verify Approvers
10. Submit
Creating a Contract for a New Faculty (new hire):
1. At this time this can only be done by HR
Processing. Once the initial contract is
created the department can update/change
using ePAC.
Changing a current Contract faculty from a comp.
frequency of “C” Contract to a new comp. frequency
of “M” Monthly:
13. Search by entering the Employee ID
14. Click the employee name to start the PAC
15. Enter the Effective Date
16. Select Action Reason
17. Under Comp Freq put in a “M” for Monthly
18. Enter the Comp Rate as a monthly rate and a
Pay Rate Reason
19. Make any additional changes that are necessary
20. Click “Save” and/or “Continue”
21. Indicate if Earnings Distribution Change will
be made and click “Continue”
22. Review PAC Changes & Verify Approvers
23. Submit
Changing a comp rate for a Contract Faculty:
1. Search by entering the Employee ID
2. Click the Employee name to start the PAC
3. Enter the Effective Date
4. Select Action Reason
5. Change Comp Rate for the Contract faculty
and enter the Pay Rate Reason
6. Click “Save” and/or “Continue”
7. Indicate if Earnings Distribution Change will
be made and click “Continue”
8. Review PAC Changes & Verify Approvers
9. Submit

Things to Know:
1. Faculty with the comp frequency of “C” (Contract) are only on the University side.

The employee class of the person must be equal to “F”(Faculty) and the department type must be
“U”(University) before the initiator is allowed to change the compensation frequency to “C” (Contract).
An employee with an “employee class” of “S” cannot have a Comp Rate of “C” Contract.

The initiator cannot change the position number for a staff person (employee class = “S”) where the job
code changes to 2xxxx. This is because you cannot change from a non-faculty job code to a faculty job
code.

The initiator will not be allowed to enter a new compensation amount for the Contract faculty if the
effective date is between 6/1/xxxx and 8/31/xxxx.

The initiator cannot change the comp frequency to “H” (Hourly) and the comp rate to an hourly rate for a
new PAC for a contract faculty. The comp frequency can only be changed to “C” (Contract) or “M”
(Monthly).
