Role of the Team Captain
1. Set Up Your Team
Please contact the Team Coordinator, Jennifer King at (916) 712-5366 or [email protected]
to set up a Team Number for your group. She will also discuss what payment method will work best for
your team. Please include the following information so that your team can be entered into our system
promptly:
Team Name
Team Captain Name, Phone Number(s) and E-mail
Mailing Address
Payment Method
After your team has been set up, the team coordinator will e-mail you a custom instruction sheet that
explains the registration process. Please make copies or forward the information via e-mail to your team
members.
2. Create Your Team Captain Page
After setting up your team, the first step will be to register yourself (the Team Captain) online. You can then
create a Team Captain Login and keep track of registered members, as well as fundraising activities online.
3. Distribute Team Materials & Instructions
Once your team is set up, you will receive instructions that you will pass on to your members. It is important
that you do this, as they will include your Team Number and Comp Code (if applicable). This information
will make joining your team at snap! In early November, Team Captains will be notified when and where
team materials can be picked up. This includes: t-shirts, bib numbers, parking passes, maps and more.
Please remind team members NOT to pick up individual materials at REI, as they will be bundled with your
team.
4. Fundraise
Our goal is for each team member to raise $100 or more in donations. These can be made in the form of
online or offline donations. Our Web site makes soliciting donations easy and immediately trackable.
Please go to your team fundraising page to keep an eye on and encourage fundraising efforts.
5. Race Day Details
Arrive at 7 a.m. to help organize team members for your team photo, enjoy benefits in the Team Tent, be
available for any media opportunities, help move team members to the start line when directed and
celebrate your team’s accomplishments! Please be available to answer questions and provide information
for your Team Members. Keep the Team Coordinator’s cell phone (916) 712-5366 number handy!
6. Wrap Up
Thank your team members for their participation! Encourage them to tell us stories about their experience
via e-mail. Remind them to gather their pledges/donations and get them in by Dec. 10, 2014. Watch for the
delivery of your team photo via e-mail. Pat yourself on the back for doing a great job as Team Captain and
raising money for such a great organization.
