Job Purpose Statement
To Support the delivery of the University’s Equality and Diversity agenda, through creating and
maintaining data systems, obtaining, collating and analysing data, producing statistics and written
reports.
Key Responsibilities
1. To interrogate and manipulate existing statistical data sources to obtain baseline data. To
analyse data and produce statistics and written reports.
2. To assist in the provision of data monitoring and analysis functions to ensure that the university
fulfils its statutory obligations under relevant legislation, including the Equality Act 2010.
3. Working alongside Equality and Diversity Team colleagues to support the development of
papers and policies that are evidenced based. This will include writing briefing notes, reports
and attending relevant meetings.
4. To provide the Equality and Diversity Charter Coordinator with timely and accurate data and
help to collate benchmarking data in support of all university charter work.
5. To undertake these duties in accordance with the university’s Equality and Diversity Policy and
to positively promote equality and diversity.
6. To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post, as required.

Elements of the Role
Planning and Organising
 The post holder will operate with minimum day-to-day supervision with regards to the day-to-day
planning, organising and performance (to an agreed quality standard and specification) of a
range of tasks. They will have the latitude within their daily/weekly work routine to organise and
prioritise their own work, to ensure that key deadlines and objectives are met. This will include
successfully managing any conflicting demands, possessing an awareness of the options
available and being able to make effective and appropriate decisions, referring only to their line
manager where appropriate.
Problem Solving and Decision Making
 On a day-to-day basis, appropriate courses of action will often be a matter of choice, influenced
by prior exposure and through reference to the E&D team.
Continuous Improvement
 The post holder is expected to take a pro-active approach, monitoring feedback and
suggesting and implementing minor improvements in working methods under the guidance of
their line manager.
 The post holder will be expected to remain up to date with equality and diversity legislation and
will be expected to attend seminars, conferences and training courses.
Accountability
 The post holder represents the E&D team and is expected to create an excellent first impression.
The post holder must be a confident communicator in dealing with a wide range of internal and
external customers.
Dimensions of the role
 The post holder will deal with staff across the University - requiring them to take responsibility for
acquiring a good working knowledge of University structures and key contacts, University policies
and processes applicable to staff and students, as well as key external organisations.

A qualification or relevant experience in research methodologies and quantitative and
