Assistant Coach Job Description
The Four Seasons Swim Team, located in Herndon, VA is seeking Assistant Coach for a summer league
swim team. Four Seasons is a developmental team that focuses on teaching the fundamentals of
competitive swimming, and participates in the Herndon Swim League. We anticipate between 80-100
swimmers in the 2017 season from May 31th – July 23rd or 29th.
Job Description:









Work under the direction of the Head Coach to prepare swimmers aged 5–18 years to compete in
the summer swim season.
Support a program and practice structure focused on developing an increased interest in the sport
of swimming, with particular emphasis on technical proficiency and stroke development.
Promote a positive setting that fosters sportsmanship, teamwork and individual achievement.
Ensure swimmers' safety and good conduct.
Attend all practices, meets, and related swim team functions (open house, social events such as the
pizza party).
Work with the Volunteer Coordinator, as necessary, to organize volunteers to assist at meets and
other team events.
Obtain approval from the Head coach should a practice or meet need to be missed.
Raise any issues and provide feedback directly to the Head Coach.
Plan for a mid-season review with the swim team board member(s).
Required Experience:






Prior participation in a summer league
Competitive swim experience with demonstrated technical expertise
Enthusiastic personality that will engage, inspire and motivate swimmers ages 5-18
Strong leadership skills
Current First Aid/CPR & AED or Lifeguard certification
Experience with summer league rules and regulations
Preferred Skills:

Pool Operator License
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience
