Dear Coaches and Athletic Directors,
The Wiley Dobbs Invitational Wrestling tournament is hosted jointly between Twin Falls High School and
Canyon Ridge High School placing both tournaments within the city of Twin Falls and only 2.5 miles apart.
The Varsity and Junior Varsity tournaments alternate each year back and forth between these two schools. This
year’s tournaments will be Varsity at Twin Falls High School and Junior Varsity at Canyon Ridge High School.
This tournament has a tournament sponsor and is known as the Wiley Dobbs Invitational by Donnelley Sports.
Dates: This year’s tournament will be held on December 16th and 17th, 2016. The Varsity Tournament will
be held at Twin Falls High School. The Junior Varsity Tournament will be held at Canyon Ridge High School.

Weigh-Ins: We will be requiring a Friday Weigh-In at the tournament site. Shoulder to shoulder weigh-in
time for the J.V. will be 1:00-2:30 P.M. for the JV and from 1:30-3:00 P.M. for the Varsity. The JV
Tournament will start Friday at 3:05 P.M. and the Varsity will start at 3:30 P.M. Saturday start times will be
9:00 A.M. for both tournaments. At this time there will be no additional weight allowance the first day unless
tournament directors and other schools are notified by December 14th, 2016. No more than two pounds will be
allowed. If two pounds are given, one will be given at the first weigh-in and one will be given at the second
weigh-in. Weigh-ins for Saturday morning will occur on Friday night during the Final round of the evening.
Weight Registration: Each School is guaranteed one wrestler per weight class. A wrestler must be placed
in the Varsity tournament before the same weight can be filled in the JV tournament. In order to run a
successful tournament beneficial to our wrestlers, the varsity tournament needs to be run with full brackets.
This will also assure we have more room for second and third string JV wrestlers at the JV tournament. If you
have two wrestlers who you feel belong at the Varsity tournament, enter them both in the varsity tournament.
All entries and seeding information will be submitted online through Track Wrestling by Wednesday December
14th, 2016. We will do our best to get as many extra wrestlers into the JV tournament as possible.
Tournament Roster: The weigh-in sheets will be your official rosters for the tournaments. There will be
no name changes or additions when you arrive at either site on Friday. You will be able to drop kids, but they
will not be moved to another weight or someone else added to fill a drop.
Seeding: Seeding for the varsity tournament will consider the top four participants in each weight class and
the remainder will be drawn in by random draw-in. The criteria for seeding will be based upon the wrestlers
previous year of competition as well as the current year’s results. An on-site committee will seed the
tournament prior to Friday afternoon. Please include any relevant seeding information with your entries. Only
wrestlers designated as varsity will count toward team scoring in the Varsity tournament. The format for
seeding the JV tournament will be a random, automatic, computerized draw with an effort to place teammates
from the same school on opposite side of the bracket. Each school will need to designate a scorer for the JV
tournament in weights where more than one wrestler has been entered.
Awards: Trophies will be given to the two (2) top finishing teams at each tournament site. Wrestlers who
finish in the top five (5) Varsity and four (4) JV will receive medals. Two (2) outstanding wrestler awards
(varsity only) will be awarded, one (1) lower-weight (98-145) and one (1) upper-weight (152-285).
Tournament Entry-Fees: The entry fee will be $175.00 for the Varsity Tournament, payable to Twin Falls
High School. The entry fee will be $175.00 for the JV Tournament, payable to Canyon Ridge High School.
Both of these entry fees are due prior to the beginning of the tournament. You will be responsible for
submitting a list of 6 coaches/managers/stat personnel who will receive a pass. Everyone else, is responsible to
pay at the door. Tournament passes cost $12.00, day passes cost $8.00, and a pass for the championship round
only will be $5.00.
Hospitality Room: A hospitality room will be provided for coaches, officials and tournament workers only.
A band or stamp will be required for entry to the hospitality room. Concession stands will be open to all.
