Declaration Document

RTO: 90388
The following information is designed for use by learners who are undertaking activities and assessment to gain
a nationally recognised qualification or statement of attainment. Please ensure you read the below information
pertaining to your assessments throughout this qualification or course and sign the acknowledgement page.

What your assessor will do











adhere to all relevant organisational policies and procedures
determine if you require any training prior to assessment
determine if the scope of assessment is to be an assessment only; RPL pathway; or a combination assessment
strategy
ensure that you are made aware of the time, date, venue and purpose of assessment, the competency units
being assessed and requirements of the assessment
explain to you the assessment process, appeals process, as well as assessment task
inform you of the amount of time you have to complete the assessment.
support and encourage you
provide feedback to you throughout the process and at the outcome of the assessment upon completion
record assessment decisions and complete all assessment documentation
ensure you sign and date all relevant assessment tools and Assessment Competency Reports
ask you to complete any evaluation forms
What assessors don’t do





provide coaching during assessment
provide training during assessment
lead you to the ‘right’ answer during assessment
use inappropriate sites for assessment that do not relate to the units of competency and the assessment
context
put themselves in compromising situations
What do you have to do?
Assessment involves you ‘proving’ what you can do and what you know. There are lots of ways you can prove
you have the required skills and knowledge. You and your trainer/ assessor will discuss the assessment &
activity tasks; each task is evidence. A number of tasks have been developed to assist in you gathering this
‘proof’.
Reasonable adjustment
'Reasonable adjustment’, is designed to ensure that all people are treated equally in the assessment process.
Therefore any learner who requires an adjustment because of an existing disability, special need or unjustifiable
hardship should request the required changes as early as possible in the enrolment process.
Submission of Assessments
When submitting assessments:
 If not already supplied, include the Unit of competency being assessed on the top of the first page and,
 Ensure you put your “Full Legal Name” on the top of the required sections
 Initial each section where applicable
 Unfortunately assessments are not returned due to RTO audit requirements, therefore we ask that you
(where applicable) save a copy of your completed assessment activities to your computer before
submitting each assessment activity

Please note that if your assignment is not submitted by the date you will receive a “Not yet competent” result
 Transqual takes plagiarism seriously as it is a form of cheating and may result in a participant being
excluded from the course. Plagiarism can be in the form of the following
- Handing in assessments similar to or copied as one’s own work
- Presenting the work of another individual or group as their own work
- Handing in assessments without adequate acknowledgement of sources/references used,
including and not limited to taking wholly or partial information from the internet
 Copyright – owners of materials may take legal action against you, if the owner’s copyright has been
infringed.
What decisions can be made?
The assessor will determine whether you are ‘competent’ or ‘not yet competent’ following the assessment and
collection of proof of your skills and knowledge.
If you are deemed competent, you will be issued with the relevant qualification or statement of attainment for
the competencies achieved.
If you are deemed not yet competent, the assessor will explain your options to gain the qualification or
statement of attainment. This will often include attending some training or gaining further experience prior to
re-assessment.
There may be an instance where your assessor may ask for additional evidence as they do not have sufficient to
make a decision.
What if you are unhappy with the decision?
Participants have the right to appeal a not competent decision. Transqual have an Appeals policy and procedure
which must be adhered to all times throughout the process. The same right to appeal assessment is provided to
participants for Recognition of Prior Learning.
PARTICIPANT ASSESSMENT DECLARATION

understood the Assessment Information & Declaration which outlines what assessors can and cannot assist
with when conducting assessment throughout all units of competency that I am to undertake.
I also understand assessment evidence and requirements from me when submitting assessments as
