Innovative Training Networks (ITN)
Main EU programme for structured doctoral training
Objective
 to raise excellence and structure research and doctoral training
 to train a new generation of creative, entrepreneurial and innovative
early-stage researcher
Scope
 European Training Networks (ETN), European Industrial Doctorates
(EID) or European Joint Doctorates (EJD)
 Triple 'i' dimension of mobility and particular focus on innovation
skills (International, Inter-sectoral, Intradisciplinary)
 Support to ESR for 3-36 months
 Minimum eligibility condition: network of 3 participants (exception:
EID with 2 participants only)
Expected Impact
 to enhance researchers' employability and provide them with new
career perspectives

Key aspects
 Project duration 48 months, recruitment period 3-36
months for ESR (EID and EJD 36 months only)
 540 researcher months maximum per project
(180 in EID with only two beneficiaries)
 Dedicated budget for EID (25,5) and EJD (30). 405 in
total.
 8 panels (EJD/EID will be ranked in multidisciplinary
panels)
 Max. 40 % of budget to one country
 Mobility rule: The recruited researcher cannot have had
his/her main activity in host country for more than 12
months during the last 36 months at
deadline/recruitment date

Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE)
 Objective
 to promote international and inter-sector collaboration through
research and innovation staff exchanges
 to foster a shared culture of research and innovation
 Scope
 International and inter-sector collaboration and transfer of
knowledge
 Joint research and innovation project
 Secondments of staff members for 1-12 months
 Minimum eligibility condition: participants in 3 different countries (at
least 2 MS/AC)
 Within Europe: only inter-sector secondments
 No secondments between institutions located outside Europe or
within the same MS/AC
 Expected Impact
 to strengthen the interaction between organisations in the academic
and non-academic sectors, and between Europe and third countries
