The Challenge Period Last Season - This Season - September to December October to February (4 months) (5 months) 2 0 0 4 / 2 0 0 5 Advantages Horses are better prepared or running into form when the Challenge starts, now that it starts a month later. Horses are having more opportunities of running. 17 meetings at Happy Valley (last season 13). H V M C 2 0 0 4 / 2 0 0 5 Advantages With a five month span, horses are having a better chance to catch those on top of table.
