ASSISTANT COACH Role Descriptor PURPOSE Assist the Head Coach to ensure that all swimmers are able to participate in a safe and positive environment, and that a well organised, appropriate and effective programme is delivered MAIN FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES Support the Head Coach to deliver a quality coaching programme appropriate to the ability of all club swimmers Assist all swimmers to achieve their full potential with the objective of achieving local, district and national standards as appropriate Support the Head Coach to provide clear, progressive and accessible development paths for swimmers, and give feedback on their progression Support club development initiatives Abide by and promote sound ethics and club policies, child protection, fair play and equal opportunities to all members Attend and contribute to club coaches meetings SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES Good organisation and communication skills Ability to motivate and make sessions enjoyable Reliable and trustworthy Approachable, friendly and patient REQUIREMENTS PVG scheme membership Be a member of Scottish Swimming Sign and adhere to the club’s Coaches Code of Conduct Attend appropriate training TRAINING Scottish Swimming UKCC Level 1 or 2 Safeguarding & Protecting Children Workshop (renewable every 3 years) Appropriate CPD TIME COMMITMENT Up to 4 hours per week coaching and additional time to attend galas as agreed with the Head Coach Updated and Committee Approved 13/01/16
