ESSENTIAL STANDARD: 2.00 – Understand graphic image design, computer animations,
and virtual reality.
INDICATOR: 2.03 – Explore virtual reality
ESSENTIAL QUESTION: What is “virtual reality”, and why is it important to society?
What will multimedia look like in the future?
FOCUS: Students will review the evolution of virtual reality, explore software, and become
familiar with its guidelines. For this objective, the major topics of the evolution of virtual reality
will include characteristics, history, uses, and development; in addition the common types,
interface devices, and interface systems will be covered.
Students will examine the three types of virtual realities by searching relative websites.
This activity will help students in identifying the most appropriate type to use depending on
intended purposes. To demonstrate their skill levels of using and designing virtual realities,
students will design and present a virtual world. Lastly, students will compare their prior
knowledge to what they gained during this objective.
