Junior Competitions Entry Form

JUNIOR CLUB COMPETITIONS
ENTRY FORM 2011/12
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION REGARDING CHANGES TO THE JUNIOR COMPETITIONS
2011-12
The format of the U18, U16 & U14 competitions has been reviewed in light of the feedback for the recent Junior Competitions Review.
Player Age Eligibility
The player age for eligibility has changed to 1 st September. Therefore, the following criteria applies –
- For the U14 competition, players must be aged 13 or under on 31 August 2011
- For the U16 competition, players must be aged 15 or under on 31 August 2011
- For the U18 competition, players must be aged 17 or under on 31 August 2011
Competition Formats
Boy’s & Girl’s U18 – This competition will remain a Knock Out Competition as per previous years. Teams will be randomly
drawn to play against each other (early rounds will be drawn by neighbouring counties where possible) with winning teams
progressing to the next round. There will still be a plate competition for those teams who play and lose in their FIRST match up
until Round Two. The last four teams in the competition will participate in the National Finals. We would welcome clubs’ view on
the structure of the final four of the U18 competitions. With the overwhelming support for a knockout competition at this age
group EHB propose that the finals of U18 Cup competition be structured as per the U18 Plate competition, ie semi finals and final
on one day rather than a two day round robin. If you are entering the U18 competition please indicate your view on this overleaf.
Boy’s & Girl’s U16 – This competition will now be played as a League format rather than a Knock Out format similar to the U14
competition which has now been running for two seasons. The competition will be played in three tiers. Six clubs will form a Tier 1
league however this can be smaller or larger depending on the number of teams within travelling distance. Tier 1 leagues will be put
into four cluster areas which will be approximately based on JRPC geographical areas. In each of the four cluster areas eight teams
will qualify from the Tier 1 leagues for the Tier 2 competition. Two or three teams will qualify from each Tier 1 league depending on
the number of entries in each league. Tier 2 will have eight teams per cluster and they will be placed in two pools. One pool will be
played at a venue on one day with all four teams playing each other. The top two teams in the pool will qualify for the National
Finals (Tier 3) where eight teams will participate. The eight finalists will be split into two pools with the top two teams in each pool
playing off for the title of National Champions. There will also be cross over matches for 3 rd, 5th and 7th places. The National Finals
will be played at one venue over two days.
Boy’s & Girl’s U14 – The U14 competition will be played as per the U16 competition but will finish at Tier 2 rather than going to
National Finals (there will be national finals in the 2012/13 season). Therefore, eight teams will qualify from each of the four clusters
to form eight cluster Finals.
