YOUNG HANDLERS CLASSES
The two highest placed SWAWPCS members in the following classes will qualify for the
SWA Young Handler of the Year final to be held at the South West Welsh Champion of the
Year on 10th September 2017 when each age group will have its own championship. SWA
membership badge to be worn in the ring. To be judged on style, turnout and manners. The
pony/cob shown need not be registered in any Stud Book. NO COLTS OR STALLIONS
ALLOWED. Please enter the name of the young member on the entry form and the
name of the pony.

If the Champion and/or Reserve Champion are Welsh or Welsh Part-Bred
they will qualify for the South West Welsh Champion of the Year to be
held on Sunday 10th September 2017. Current SWA membership badges
must be worn in the ring. Qualification to go no lower than 1st Reserve (3rd
place)
RULES
1.
The Organisers or any of the Show’s officers, servants or agents shall not be in any way responsible
or accountable for any loss, injury or damage from any cause or circumstances whatever to exhibitors or
their servants or agents or other members of the public, to any animal or property or to any vehicle brought
on to the Showground, or on premises used in conjunction with the Show, or while entering or leaving the
same or otherwise for anything else in conjunction with or arising out of or attributable to the Show.
2.
Any member or exhibitor wishing to lodge a protest having reference to any person or exhibit shall
do so in writing to the Show Secretary and shall at the same time deposit the sum of £10. If on investigation
by the Show Committee the protest is not sustained, the deposit will be forfeited to the funds of the Show.
All protests shall be delivered within half an hour of the incident.
3.
The decision of the Judge is final and the Organisers reserve the right to amend the Judge’s Panel
and order of Classes f it should become necessary.
4.
All entries must be entered in the main Stud Book for their respective breeds. Part-Bred ponies must
be registered. All Stud Book registration numbers must be given on all entry forms. Animals registered in
Welsh Section X of the Stud Book and Foundation Stock cannot compete but FS.1 and FS.2 may.
5.
Relevant classes are eligible for points towards the Welsh Pony & Cob Society Performance Award
Scheme, the South Western Association Performance, In Hand and Young Adult In Hand Award
Competitions.
6.
The Committee reserves the right to cancel/amalgamate any Class with less than three entries.
7.
The Committee reserves the right to retain all or part of the entry fees in the event of the Show being
cancelled.
8.
NO MANES OR TAILS OF PURE BREDS TO BE PLAITED IN ANY M&M CLASS – IT IS
OPTIONAL FOR PART BREDS.
9.
It is the Exhibitor’s responsibility to ensure they are ready to enter the ring at the appropriate time.
10.
Ponies must be the bona fide property of the Exhibitor or officially leased.
11.
Correctly secured British Standard Skull Caps/Riding Hats that meet current safety standards MUST
be worn by riders at all times when mounted. Spurs are not permitted. Showing canes can be no more than
30 inches long.
12.
All dogs must be kept on a lead.
13.
Exhibitors should not enter an animal when that animal will be judged by a person who is the breeder
or who has had a financial interest in the animal.
14.
NO nominations or substitutions will be permitted.
15.
Exhibitors are requested not to bring any coughing pony to the Show and may be requested to
remove any such animal at the Veterinary Officer’s discretion.
16.
All cups and trophies remain the property of the South Western Association of the WPCS and must
be returned to the Show Secretary. They may only be signed for and collected by an adult SWA Member
and a refundable deposit of £10 paid and remain the responsibility of the winner whilst in their possession.
Any person who has had a SWA cup or trophy in the past and has not returned it by the time of the next
show may not be allowed to take away any cup or trophy that they have been awarded.
18.
No change of rider/handler will be allowed throughout the class without the judge’s permission.
19.
Colts and stallions must be licensed in accordance with respective Breed Society requirements.
20.
The Show Committee recommend that competitors have adequate third party insurance.
21.
Exhibitors entering classes which may clash do so at their own risk, no entry fees will be refunded.
22.
The organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry without giving a reason.
23.
Handlers of ponies in In Hand classes aged 14 years and under must wear correctly secured current
British Standard skull caps/riding hats.
24.
National Pony Society rules regarding age of Handlers/Riders of Stallions apply.

ALL DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON A LEAD AND UNDER CONTROL AT ALL TIMES
A SWA REPRESENTATIVE WILL BE TAKING PHOTOS OF CHAMPIONS. IF ANY
PARENT DOES NOT WISH THEIR CHILD TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED THEY SHOULD
INFORM THE SHOW SECRETARY ACCORDINGLY
