Best Buddies Citizens
Involvement with Best Buddies can extend beyond the Best Buddies Citizens program. There are a number of ways to
continue your involvement beyond your friendship experience by participating in other Best Buddies programs, state
events, or volunteering in the office - find one (or more) that are right for you from the suggestions below!
Advocate
Spread the Word: Follow Best Buddies on social media and connect with members of our online community of
advocates to get inspired and share ideas.
Share Your Story: Tell us how your involvement in the disability rights movement and the organization has impacted
your life so that we can share your story and inspire others to get involved. Share your story here!
Celebrate Inclusion: Support Best Buddies mission of one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership
development for people with IDD year-round by participating in the Spread the Word to End the Word Campaign, Best
Buddies Month, and National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Attend an Event
Best Buddies Friendship Walks: Best Buddies Friendship Walks are a powerful social movement that support the Best
Buddies Movement. Participate in one of the 50 Friendship Walks that take place across the country!
Best Buddies Leadership Conference: Join thousands of leaders, volunteers, and community advocates from around
the globe as they come together for a four-day leadership training conference experience focused on Best Buddies.

Join Other Best Buddies Programs
Ambassadors: The ambassadors program educates and empowers people with and without IDD to be leaders and
public speakers in their schools, communities, and workplace. There are many opportunities for you to speak at state
events, national events, chapter meetings, and trainings. For more information on Best Buddies Ambassadors and
how to get involved with a local training please speak with your Best Buddies program manager.
e-Buddies: e-Buddies provides a safe place online to develop one-to-one friendships between people with and without
IDD. A onetime fee is required for all applicants without IDD over the age of 18. Visit www.ebuddies.org for more
information.
Jobs: Best Buddies Jobs is a supported employment program that secures competitive, paying jobs for people with
IDD. The program targets job sites, competitively places individuals, and promotes ongoing support and training. If you
are in one of the Best Buddies Jobs markets, suggest potential employers and/or participants to Best Buddies Jobs
staff that you feel would be great candidates.
Volunteer with the Best Buddies Office
Volunteer at the local office: Many offices around the country have current and formerly matched participants helping
out in a variety of ways from answer phones and filing to soliciting donations and planning special events.
Join a committee: There are numerous committees with which our staff team works. Programming, special events,
and advisory boards are just a few groups that would benefit from having volunteers from our programs.
