Employers reference
Please give the names and addresses of two employer referees, one reference must be from your
present or most recent employer. We only accept references from individuals who know you in a
professional capacity (such as a tutor if you are a school leaver or mother returning to work) and do
not accept references from friends. We would only approach your referees further to interview and
having been given your permission to proceed. We can only make a decision regarding selection for
employment once we have received two satisfactory references.

Briefly explain why you have applied for the job and outline experience which is relevant to the main
tasks and essential requirements listed in the job description and person specification.
You should carefully read the essential and desirable criteria and outline how you meet each one
using past experience, qualifications, skills or knowledge, which you may have acquired in a variety
of different ways, e.g. through work, running a home, organising a club etc. Use an additional sheet if

Due to the nature of our work with children and vulnerable adults, all of our roles will need enhanced

In order to monitor recruitment and ensure that our decision making is fair we ask applicants to
indicate their sex, marital status, ethnic group and disability status. The information given is
confidential and is not shown to anybody taking selection decisions, and individuals will not be
identified during the monitoring process. This form must be completed and returned with your
application form.
Next step
When you have completed all of the forms, return them to the address as indicated within the
recruitment literature. Please quote the vacancy reference in the bottom right hand corner of your
envelope.
We must receive the application on or before the closing date in the advertisement, so please leave
enough time for the postal service. Experience shows that applications posted first class usually
arrive within 2 days of posting, whereas second class has been known to take up to a week.
Data Protection

data as information, that relates to a living individual who can be identified from that data: this
includes opinions about an individual. By signing the application form you give your consent for
Museum to process sensitive and other personal data for the purposes of recruitment and selection,
including the taking up of references.
Interview Expenses
Due to limited resources Family Lives is unable to reimburse travel or any other expenses incurred
by applicants attending any of our job interviews or selection processes.
