Description of Class
This is a paper pieced pattern. This class will include:
 Learning to draft a log cabin block in a triangle
 Learning the importance of completing a road map for construction of the quilt
 Discussion of color values and movement
 Options for printing paper piecing patterns
 Making blocks using paper piecing foundations
 Discussion of border options
Each student will be provided with a packet that contains:
 Drafting instructions
 8” triangle pattern (numbered)
 Roadmap to be colored
 Construction details
 Sample road map
 Sample of different types of foundation papers (will vary by packet)
The class starts off with the details of drafting any size pattern, moves into the discussion of color
and value, progresses to each student coloring in their roadmap, with the majority of the class spent
with each student making blocks using the pre-printed foundation papers provided in their class
packet. Given the individual level of progression, questions are welcome at every point. There is
very little “lecture” time.
Sample blocks are used for demonstration in the class.
