Review of VCE Industry and Enterprise
Summary of proposed changes
General changes
The review of VCE Industry and Enterprise focused on:




Updating of key knowledge and key skills across Units 1 to 4 in order to build on the F-10
Victorian Curriculum Humanities - Economics and Business.
Reinforcement of the mandated nature and importance of Structured Workplace Learning,
(SWL), in Units 1, 2 and 3.
Updating of SWL requirements in line with amended DET requirements (Ministerial Order
55).
Assessment tasks for Units 1 and 2 have been clarified to recommend assessment task
types to be used during SWL.
Proposed changes
Unit 1: Workplace participation
Unit 1 retains three areas of study with additional content proposed.
Area of Study 1: Contributing to the workforce


the role of universities and training providers in creating a skilled workforce
Requirement to classify and explain statistical data related to employment
Area of Study 2: Developing work-related skills


Overview of the range of different work settings and of methods of sourcing work
Self-assessment tools now included in both key knowledge and key skills
Area of Study 3: Workplace effectiveness
Unit 2: Being enterprising
Unit 2 retains three areas of study with additional content proposed:
Area of Study 1: Enterprising individuals and leadership


Characteristics of successful leaders
Leadership behaviour demonstrated by individuals in personal, social and community
settings
Area of Study 2: Enterprise and innovation in industry


importance of enterprising behaviour in a work-related settings
