The inclusion of any cultural aspect would heighten the impression of the art work, e.g. what can the artistic student include or portray in their work that would have a Fiji, Oceanic, or Pacific flavour? How would someone viewing the art work in Greece recognize the piece as being from the Pacific? It must be the sole work and effort of the student. Teachers will be trusted to ensure that since they know their students’ giftedness and skill they will be able to vouch for the originality of any entry. The content is important and must portray in word-picture, convincing enthusiasm for sports and the Olympic Values of Excellence, Fair Play and Respect. Cultural inclusions will help identify with Fiji, Oceania or the Pacific. The correct use of rhythm and style in poetic form must be used. It helps convey and express. THE POEM: Must be the student’s own work. Ensure that there is no plagiarism (copying from someone else’s poem). The poem must be about any aspect of Sports and the Olympic Values of Excellence, Fair Play and Respect. : winning, losing, achieving, disappointments, highlights, successes, the glory of sports, sports in our country, schools, communities, regions, how sports builds good character, makes us decent effective human beings, how sports reaches across great divides and penetrates barriers of race, class, religion, and how sports affects our lives for positive things, etc. etc. etc. The poem must have a minimum of 12 lines and no more than 24. The Poem must be entered as follows: Typed on A4, with single spacing. Typed ON ONE SIDE ONLY. Font size must be 12 and the style easily read, e.g. Times New Roman or Arial. No distracting borders. A copy of the Poem. A completed Entry Form. A completed Poetry Writing Affidavit.
