A. BAKER
A. BAKER has been conceived and designed to feel
interesting, intimate and special across breakfast, lunch
and dinner. The restaurant is located in the NewActon
heritage pavilion which was destroyed by fire in 2011
leaving behind a stunning charred texture on the walls.
Our vision is to showcase regional produce by breaking
down barriers between supplier and consumer. We do
this through weekly changes to our menu, managing
our own restaurant garden just outside, and by
removing the physical walls to the kitchen to allow
you to see everything being prepared in front of you.
Our local wine list offers a vast selection from wineries
located in and around Canberra and if you’re feeling
adventurous, be sure to ask for our discrete premium
wines menu.

Capacity
The restaurant and courtyard spaces are
available for exclusive hire across breakfast,
lunch and dinner seven days a week.
DINING ROOM
Seated: 40 Standing 60
Our main dining room features beautifully textured
walls and ample natural lighting. It sits adjacents to
our open kitchen and can accommodate cocktail and
seated events.
HERB GARDEN
Seated: 38 Sanding: 38
Nestled among the heritage buildings with the
beautiful timber trellis of the Nishi building as the
backdrop, our herb garden allows for semi private
outdoor dining. The space can be connected to the
restaurant dining space to form a large party or
separated for your own use.
OLD OAK COURTYARD
Deck: 40 guests
Courtyard: 60 guests
NewActon’s oldest courtyard oozes charm and
character as heritage meets the contemporary built
form through well-conceived public spaces. The
feature is a stunning 100 year old oak tree as the
backdrop to the courtyard space.
AUDIO VISUAL
Our courtyard spaces both have audio connections.
The Old Oak Tree Courtyard has surround sound
audio as well as audio connection for bands.
Events requiring private use of one or several spaces
will be quoted on a case by case basis depending on
the space(s), season, time and duration of event.

The only best way to dine as a group. With
Charcuterie to start off, we offer a shared stylemeal
for the table, spread out over six plates that
showcases the best seasonal produce from the
Canberra region. Shared plates are portioned out
to the number of guests in attendance and are
placed in the middle of the table for all to enjoy.

We offer cocktail style parties and events for up to
100 guests in our Courtyard or Restaurant. Beverage
packages and Canape menus can be tailored to your
event.

HOW DO I TENTATIVELY HOLD A DATE?
Just contact our Reservation Team for availability and
request a tentative booking to be placed for you. The
date can be held for up to 1 week without a deposit,
after completing a booking form. After this time if
you have not confirmed your function your tentative
booking will be cancelled.

HOW DO I CONFIRM AND PAY

To confirm a booking for your event, return the
signed booking form and deposit, as arranged with
the Reservation Team.

WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT OPTIONS?
We accept payment by Amex, Visa or Mastercard,
cash or online electronic funds transfer.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. Group bookings of 10 or more attract a deposit fee of
10%, which will be credited to the cost of your event.
2. Credit card details must be completed. Bookings
will be confirmed when the booking form is completed,
signed and returned.
3. Due to the seasonal nature of our menu, selection is
subject to change with no notice.
4. Time and date must be confirmed at the submission
of this form.
5. Final numbers must be confirmed at least 7 days
prior to your event date. This is the amount you will be
charged for.
5. 50% of the overall expected spend will be charged
to the credit card if your booking is cancelled with less
than 7 days notice.
