DISTRICT GROUP SELECTION PANEL DETAIL
Members of district group selection panels are to include the following roles relevant to the sector
under consideration:





Former District Management Group (DMG) Chair (or if not applicable a Senior Clinician)
Funding Division portfolio manager
Chair (or Deputy Chair) of the Transitional Steering Group
Maori health representative
Primary health clinician representative
Where the sector that the district group will represent is very broad (e.g. older people) it may be
that more than one person from each of the areas listed above is needed.
District group selection panels cannot contain people who have been nominated to join the district
group under discussion or who have nominated someone else to join the district group.
The Transitional Steering Group endorses the selection panel membership.
Selection Panel Meetings:
Experience has shown that:




These meetings can take about two hours
Use of a white board is essential
On white board write up constituent list from the terms of reference and in the first instance
note nominees names against these where they are mandated, like consultant, portfolio
manager or obvious (and consensus has been quickly achieved)
Thereafter discussion to occur regarding the rest of the constituent list and the nominations
received
