London Schools Swimming Association Championships 2015 (Affiliated to ESSA and ASA London Region) Crystal Palace National Sports Centre London SE19 2BL Sunday 15 March 2015 (Under ASA laws and FINA Technical Rules of Swimming) Licensed by the ASA for entry into National and Region Championships (Licence No ……………) CONDITIONS SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS shall be conducted under ASA laws and the FINA Technical Rules of Swimming on 15 March 2015 2. ELIGIBILITY FOR ENTRY 2.1 The Championships shall be open to eligible swimmers, as defined by the ASA, who are in attendance at a school or in full time education in Greater London. 2.2 Time Trials will not be permitted during the Championships. 2. EVENTS Competitors may only swim in the appropriate age group. Age limits for these events shall be as at midnight August 31st/September 1st at the commencement of the academic year of Championships. Events shall be organized in six groups: (a) Boys aged 11 years and under 13 years (Normally Y7 & 8) – Junior (b) Boys aged 13 years and under 15 years (Normally Y9 & 10) – Intermediate (c) Boys aged 15 years and under 18 years (Normally Y11, 12 & 13) – Senior (d) Girls aged 11 years and under 13 years (Normally Y7 & 8) – Junior (e) Girls aged 13 years and under 15 years (Normally Y9 & 10) – Intermediate (f) Girls aged 15 years and under 18 years (Normally Y11, 12 & 13) – Senior 3 Events: 50m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle 100m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle 200m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle and Individual Medley 400m Freestyle and Individual Medley. 4. ENTRIES: 4.1 Entry fees shall be £6 per event plus a one off payment of £1 for affiliation. 4.2 Entries shall be made on the official entry form which must be fully and correctly completed and be accompanied by the correct covering form signed by an authorised adult. 4.3 Entries, accompanied by the appropriate entry fee, must be received by the Swimming Events Administrator by the specified closing date. The closing date shall be Wednesday 11 February 2015. 4.4 For all individual events the Events Committee shall set entry qualifying times. 4.5 Competitors must have achieved the entry qualifying time at a licensed event and it must have been achieved in the 12 months immediately preceding the closing date for the Championships. Entry times are Long Course. All times to be converted by use of the ASA Equivalent Performance Tables. In such case the swimmers with the faster submitted times will take preference. 4.7 The only situation where refunds will be given is to swimmers who are denied entry because clause 4.6 has been exercised. 5. MEET PROCEDURE 5.1 A withdrawal system will be in operation. Swimmers who are not intending to swim (or their representatives) must submit withdrawal forms, either electronically as prescribed on the competition website up to a specified time on the day before the session, or at the withdrawal table at the pool no later than 45 minutes before the advertised starting time of the first event in the session. 5.2 Swimmers must present themselves to the Clerks of the Course at the start of the event (except in the case of genuine illness or of a proven emergency). 5.3 Failure to report to the Clerks of the Course prior to an event shall cancel the swimmer’s right to compete. Heat start lists for each event will be posted. It is the swimmer's responsibility to ensure his/her name appears on the list prior to the start time of the session. 6 Heats All events will be heat declared winner events the last three heats (or such lesser number if there are less than three heats in total) will have lanes allocated on the spearhead principle. 7. AWARDS – 7.1 The first, second and third placed swimmers in each age group shall be awarded medals which can be collected from the medals table. 7.2 There will be trophies the top boys/girls school with an overall trophy for the top school. Points will be awarded on the basis of the first eight swimmers in each age group. 8. DISPUTES Any dispute for which the foregoing Conditions do not provide shall be determined by the Committee.
