For the Months of August/September
Here’s what we are working on!
Math: We will start a unit on applying
addition and subtraction strategies.
Also, we will start our Rocket Math
program. Please help your child
practice daily for this.
(CCSS 2MD.1,2,3)
Grammar/Writing: Students will learn
about the various types of sentences
and punctuation that goes at the end of
each. In writing we will make sure our
sentences are complete and on topic.
We will begin our launch
in the Six Traits
of Writing.

Social Studies: The first
Friday of the month we will do
a bully lesson. Our first unit
is on landforms. A study guide
will go home for lessons, as
well as, vocabulary cards.
Reading: We will be working on
making connections. The skills we
will focus on are main idea and
compare/contrast.

Other Reminders
Please initial your child’s
planner each night. Also, make
sure your child reads at least 10
minutes each night. Write down
the title of the book in their
planner.
If you see the initials
DWT on top of any paper
that comes home from
your child, it stands for
Done With Teacher and
means that we completed
it in class together!
