FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) 1. What is My DataRoam Settings? My DataRoam Settings is a network-based solution that helps you monitor and manage your data roaming usage. Roaming subscribers can customize their preferred data roaming settings before travel to control their data roaming usage. It is also able to identify customer who is subscribed to a DataRoam Saver plan and if there is accidental roaming to a non-preferred operator, an alert will be on its way to notify the customer to stay connected with our preferred operator. Key Features: i. Receive data roaming usage alerts via SMS, Email and Flash SMS. ii. Check data roaming usage charges incurred within each billing cycle iii. Enable your pay per use data roaming quota to control your usage. iv. Notify you when you roam to a non-preferred operator (only applicable if you roam to a country which is covered by the DataRoam Saver (Daily) plans) 2. How will I be notified when I incur dataroam usages? By default, you will receive the alert via SMS on your subscribed mobile number. However, you may visit the web portal and nominate an alternate mobile number. You can also choose to receive the alert via email or Flash Message or on all the 3 modes. At any time, you can only be notified via SMS on 1 mobile number and 1 email address. 3. What are the different data roaming usage alerts? a. Roaming Pay-Per-Use Data Alert By default, you have been pre-set to the tier 1 alerts which consists of 5 alerts threshold. You will receive 1 SMS when your usage reached each threshold. However, should you continue to use data roaming after $200, you may change your alert setting to higher tiers to continue receiving usage alerts. Roaming Pay-Per-Use Data Alert for customers with Auto suspension enabled If you have opt-in for auto suspension and selected pay per use data roaming quota at $100, you will receive 3 alerts - $50 usage alert, $80 usage alert and $100 usage alert. You will be suspended from data roaming after your usage accumulated to $100. Suspension will not be lifted until your next billing cycle. You may choose to un-suspend by increasing to a higher quota via My SingTel app or dial *7626 (*ROAM) in Singapore or SMS ‘*7626’ to 3333 while overseas to continue using data roaming. There are a total of 5 pre-defined tiers: Tier Usage amount Alert Threshold 1 $100 $50, $80, $100 2 $200 $50, $100, $160, $200 3 $500 $50, $250, $400, $500 4 $1,000 $50, $500, $800, $1,000 5 $5,000 $50, $2,500, $4,000, $5,000 Please take note of the following: i. Customers will receive alerts when their data roaming usage exceed the specified thresholds of the selected usage alert tier in each bill cycle. Bill cycle refers to the date duration that the customer is being billed. For example, if the bill cycle is on 10 January, the bill cycle for that month is 10 January - 9 February. ii. The data roaming usage counters will be reset at the start of the next bill cycle. iii. Auto suspension will be enabled for all postpaid mobile NRIC registered customers WEF 29 Jan 2013. The pay per use data roaming quota is pre-set at $500. Customers who have enabled auto suspension before 29 Jan 2013 will not be affected by this change. c. DataRoam Saver Usage Alert If you have subscribed to the DataRoam Saver plans, you will receive alerts depending on the plan you have subscribed. DataRoam Saver Plans Alerts sent DataRoam Saver (Daily)/BlackBerry DataRoam Daily plans Before expiry and upon expiry DataRoam Saver (Monthly) plans Data usage up to 50% of the bundled plan and data usage up to 100% of the bundled plan BlackBerry DataRoam (Monthly) plans No alert Note: Alerts are sent out based on Eastern standard time for countries with multiple time zones. 4. How can I turn on auto suspension? Is it automatic? With effect from 29 Jan 2013, auto suspension is automatically enabled for all NRIC registered mobile customers who have not set a pay per use data roaming quota. This quota will be pre-set at S$500. Customers who have enabled their pay per use data roaming quota before 29 Jan 2013 will not be affected. You may change your quota via the following modes: i. Activate My SingTel app and select Roaming ii. Dial *7626 (*ROAM) in Singapore or SMS '*7626' to 3333 while overseas iii.Visit the web portal (IDEAS portal - www.ideas.singtel.com) Note: roaming charges apply for accessing above modes outside of Singapore. 5. How can I continue to use data roaming when my data roaming usage is being suspended while I am overseas? You may access via the following modes to change to a higher pay per use data roaming quota to continue using data roaming: i. SMS '*7626' to 3333 ii. If connected to a WIFI connection, a) Activate My SingTel app and select Roaming b) Visit the web portal (IDEAS portal - www.ideas.singtel.com) Note: roaming charges apply for accessing above modes outside of Singapore. 6. How can I enable or disable data roaming? You are advised to enable or disable data roaming via the following modes prior to your travel: i. Activate My SingTel app and select Roaming ii. Dial *7626 (*ROAM) in Singapore or SMS '*7626' to 3333 while overseas iii. Dial *100# when you are overseas iv. Visit the web portal (IDEAS portal - www.ideas.singtel.com) Note: roaming charges apply for accessing above modes outside of Singapore. 7. How can I view my data roam usage? You may view your usage via the following modes: i. Activate My SingTel app and select Roaming ii. Dial *7626 (*ROAM) in Singapore or SMS '*7626' to 3333 while overseas iii. Dial *100# when you are overseas iv. Visit the web portal (IDEAS portal - www.ideas.singtel.com) Note: roaming charges apply for accessing above modes outside of Singapore. 8. Are the alerts free? There is no roaming SMS charge when you receive the SMS alert. However, there will be data charges if you choose to view email alerts via mobile. Please note that if you wish to activate a DataRoam Saver plan via SMS while overseas (SMS '*7626' to 3333), you will be liable for roaming SMS charge. 9. Where can I check the alerts that have been sent to me? You may visit the web portal (IDEAS portal -www.ideas.singtel.com), login with your user ID (your mobile number, for eg, 6598765432) > SingTel Services > My DataRoam Settings > View Alerts, to view up to 6 months of history alerts. Alternatively, you may access My SingTel app to view up to 7 days of history alerts. 10. I am a Multi-SIM user. Which card will I receive the alert? You will receive the alert on your preferred SIM, which is also the card where you choose to receive your incoming calls and SMS. (Note: please turn off data roaming on the other devices which are using the MultiSIM cards as you will receive alerts due to usage on the other devices to your preferred SIM) 11. What are the scenarios where I will not receive the alerts? You will not receive the alerts if you have chosen to disable the 'Roaming Pay-Per-Use Data Alert' and 'DataRoam Saver Usage alerts'. You will not receive the alerts too if you have disable data roaming. 12. What are the scenarios where I will not receive the roam to non-preferred operator alert? You will not receive the alert if you are not subscribe to the DataRoam Saver (Daily) plan at the time when you have roam to a non-preferred operator. If you have travelled to a destination that is not covered within our DataRoam Saver (Daily) destination, you will not receive the alert too. 13. I am a SingTel Mobile customer. Can I opt out or terminate the alerts? The alerts are meant to help you monitor your data roaming usages, and to prevent you from bill surprise after a trip. However, you may choose to opt out of the alerts by disabling your alerts via the following modes: i. Activate My SingTel app and select Roaming ii. Dial *7626 (*ROAM) in Singapore or SMS '*7626' to 3333 while overseas iii. Visit the web portal (IDEAS portal - www.ideas.singtel.com) Note: roaming charges apply for accessing above modes outside of Singapore.
