Position Details: Position Title: Collective Impact Facilitator (CIF) Division: Community Services Reports to: Site Program managers Position Purpose: Mission Australia is a partner in a multi-stage, multi-partner research-policypractice initiative (Creating Pathways to Child Wellbeing in Disadvantaged Communities Project), led by Griffith University. It aims to improve children’s outcomes by strengthening the capacity of the Communities for Children (CFC) program to implement evidenced informed approaches within a Collective Impact framework. The successful candidate will join the Creating Pathways team, as a Collective Impact Facilitator (CIF). Other NGOs such as The Smith Family and Benevolent Society may also be recruiting CIFs to be involved in the project. All CIFs will be part of a multi-organisation, multi-disciplinary team working on the project. The CIF will report to a Griffith University team member, but be line managed by the CfC program manager. They will also receive support from the Head of Research and Evaluation. The overall goal of the Project is to improve the outcomes of disadvantaged children. The Collective Impact Facilitator (CIF) will be a critical friend and technical advisor to a Communities for Children (CFC) site, with the aim of enhancing how the CFC sites function Position Requirements (What are the key activities for the role?) Key Result Area 1: Work with coalition leaders and members to strengthen the functioning of the collaboration. Position Description | Collective Impact Facilitator Key tasks Position holder is successful when Specific tasks may include: mobilise and sustain change within the community by utilising prevention science methods; foster partnerships outside of natural silos; identify and address partnership functioning issues; unpack community issues to identify strategies to address them early, with a focus on the identification of risk and protective factors; help develop the data to support and justify programming choices; support coalition members to identify appropriate and measureable behavioural outcomes; support the training needs of the coalition, especially capacity building in collaboration and collective Impact/partnership building; and strengthen fidelity around implementation of programs/services. When community members come together to influence change When joint decisions are made on service directions they are able to note that people are Coming Together; Deciding Together; Planning Together; Doing Together; Reviewing Together and achieving positive outcomes for the community. Key Result Area 2: Build positive relationships across MA at the site level and national support teams as well as Griffith University teams. Key tasks Facilitate regular meetings between the CIFs and the national office support teams. Position holder is successful when All levels of the organisational are aware of the project and the outcomes on a regular basis. Progress reports are made each month. Recruitment information Qualification, knowledge, skills and experience required to do the role Excellent communication skills ranging from diplomatic skills to facilitation and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. Capacity to be an effective change agent. This includes: o the ability to maintain a level of professional distance that enables them to support, guide and sometimes challenge coalition practices; o the capacity to act as a translator between academia and practice (i.e. to function as a knowledge broker); and o the capacity to negotiate and influence up, across, and down within the coalition and member organisations. Ability to develop a working knowledge of prevention science methods, especially the analytic techniques underpinning each step of the prevention cycle: Coming Together Deciding Together Planning Together Doing Together Reviewing Together. Demonstrated ability to work strategically and preserve in the face of uncertainty 5 years’ experience working in the NGO sector, preferably with young children. A good understanding of the uses of data, including outcomes measurement, as well as data analysis. Knowledge of relevant sectors (NGOs, government departments, and schools) especially with respect to welfare, educational and early year’s issues.
