FRESH NEW
DOWNTOWN
High River now has a fresh new
downtown complete with beautiful
flowers and trees that line the
pedestrian-friendly streetscapes.
Phase 3 of the downtown revitalization project is
now underway and will provide the town with a
vital centre for creativity and entrepreneurship.
The new, expanded sidewalks and enhanced
streetscapes will create new spaces within the
public realm that can be used and programmed for
street performances, events, markets, and festivals.
A STRONG
BUSINESS
COMMUNITY
The business community in High
River is strong, since 2013, the
Town experienced more than a 90%
recovery rate and 155,000+ square
feet of commercial/industrial
development space has opened in
High River.
This includes a new Canadian Tire, Mark’s Work
Warehouse, Peavey Mart, Subway, Tim Hortons,
Mac’s, Esso and more!
It has also been very exciting to see businesses
return or expand such as Colossi’s, Carlson’s, Flys
Etc., and the High River Library.
AMAZING
COMMUNITY
EVENTS
High River has always had a cohesive
and united community and that was
strengthened after 2013. The Town

BUILD IT BACK
BETTER MENTALITY
We are using a “build it back
better” mentality and looking for
innovative ways to improve our
town. This natural playground
recently opened and is a first for
High River.
Children are encouraged to use imaginative and
open-ended play while connecting with nature.
INNOVATIVE
PROJECTS & POLICIES
With the Town’s progressive
Council at the helm, two new
community gardens have been built
in the southwest and northwest
areas of High River.
These are adding to the already existing and
thriving garden in Sheppard Family Park. Residents
who are interested in growing their own food can
now do so by booking a plot.
Council has also recently passed bylaws permitting
backyard bees and chickens within Town limits
creating sustainable food growth and production
as well as an educational component for local youth
and residents.
The Town is also currently working on a major
review of the Land Use Bylaw.
