The National Communications Authority (NCA) has organised the first ever fun games for the
communications industry dubbed Comm. Olympics 2016 on Saturday 5th November 2016 at the
BurmaCampSportsComplex.Thegameswhichwasorganisedinhonourofthe20thAnniversary
CelebrationsoftheNCAprovidedauniqueopportunityforparticipantstogettoknowandnetwork
witheachotherandwasalsoagreatwaytopromotecommunicationandfriendlyrivalry.

tokick‐offthegames

General of the NCA said that as part of the 20th Anniversary Celebrations, the Authority found it
important to slate an event which would bring all stakeholders together in an attempt to foster
collaborationwithintheindustry.
Representativesoftheparticipatingteamscompetinginvariousboardgames
Morethan400participantsfromabout9serviceprovidersoftheindustrybeingregulatedbythe
Authority participated in the Comm. Olympics 2016. Participants partook in traditional, non‐
traditionalandboardgamessuchastugofwar,soccer,jammacompetition,parachuterace,oware,
ludo,scrabble,basketball,ampeetc.

The event had its own share of fun as ATC presented an all‐male team for the all‐female Ampe
competition,andemergedthewinner.
VodafonealsopresentedawomanfortheMen’sswimmingcompetitionandshealsowon,drawing
protestsfromthemenwhoparticipated.
Participantskeenlycompetingwiththeiropponents
ThehighlightofthedaywastheMen’sCookingcompetition,withmenbeingtaskedtoprepareBanku
withOkroStewandasideaccompanimentofGrilledTilapiaandFreshPepper.Thiswasinteresting
asVodafone’sfishgotmissingandwasfoundunderNCA’stable,withaccusationsofsabotageand
setupsfromeachsiderespectively.
SpeakingontheGames,Mrs.NanaDefieBadu,DirectorofConsumerandCorporateAffairsthanked
theoperatorsforparticipatingandexpressedtheAuthority’sappreciationtotheGhanaChamberof
Telecommunicationsforco‐sponsoringsomeoftheAwards.
Infurtherance,sherevealedthattheNCAislookingatthepossibilityofhavinganannualeventwith
thesameobjective.
