Residence Hall Association (RHA).

The National Communications Coordinator In-Training (NCC-IT) will officially become the NCC at the
annual RHA End of the Year Banquet held in April.

Part 1: Position Background Information
The National Communications Coordinator (NCC) position is an RHA Executive Board appointed
position done by the RHA President of the preceding year (e.g. the 2011-2012 RHA President appoints
the 2012-2013 NCC).
If chosen to be the 2012-2013 NCC you will first serve as the 2011-2012 NCC-IT (National
Communications Coordinator In Training). The requirements of the NCC-IT are as follows:
 Attend at least 1 RHA Executive Board meeting and 1 RHA Board of Governors meeting per
month*
 Attend RHA events (training days, retreats, etc.) at the discretion of the RHA President and RHA
National Communications Coordinator.
 Attend all conferences and fully participate in all tasks before, during, and after the conference
(includes attending delegate meetings, participating in Boardroom at conferences, creating
post-conference reports)
 Assist the NCC with any position-related tasks
*The NCC-IT will be an ex officio member of the RHA Executive Board. They hold all the same rights and
duties as regular Executive Officers with the exception of required office hours and stipend.
Once chosen to be the NCC, your responsibilities will include:











To affiliate the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with the following conferences: the North Carolina
Association of Residence Halls (NCARH), the South Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls
(SAACURH), and the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH).
To organize delegations to attend the annual conferences of NCARH, SAACURH, and NACURH, including the
arrangement of delegate recruitment and selection, travel and lodging, reviewing delegate program submissions,
and writing post conference reports for approval by the Board of Governors.
To attend the annual SAACURH No Frills business conference, and organize the UNC-Chapel Hill delegation; the
delegation should include the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) representative, Advisor, and others as
allowed by the RHA President.
To vote on behalf of RHA in the state, regional, and national boardrooms, and to appropriately and professionally
represent the views of the students the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
To serve as a liaison between the Board of Governors and the state, regional, and national organizations.
To complete the annual report to the National Information Center (NIC).
To determine, by the first of October of each year, the state, regional, and national awards for which RHA shall
submit bids, and to supervise the bid-writing process in conjunction with the Recognition Committee. The NCC
must ensure that RHA bids for no fewer than three awards each year.
To organize the recognition of Executive Officers and Governors, and to serve as chair of the RHA Recognition
Committee.
To, in conjunction with the President, appoint an NCC-in training no less than one month prior to the No Frills
business conference; and to supervise the NCC-in training and assist in his or her transition.
To learn the RHA Constitution in full.
To maintain at least one hour of office hours in the RHA office every week.
The NCC position is a very unique and exciting position, because not only are you directly involved with
UNC’s RHA, but you directly influence the state, regional and national student housing organizations as
well!
Your first main task as the NCC will be attending the No Frills 2013 (regional business conference) in
Fort Myers, Florida from March 22-24, 2013. Your main task following that conference will be

planning and attending NACURH (the national conference) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from May 31June 3, 2013.
