Hints and Tips on using Homeroom

Instructions on how to get you started on Homeroom
Once your email address has been assigned to your child’s folder on Homeroom you will receive an
email that will look like the one below. To start accessing the shared photographs and videos you
need to click on the green ‘Accept [name] invitation’ button. This will take you to a set up page
which will allow you to set up your own log in for the app/ website.
Once you have made your own log in you will be able to start viewing and commenting on the
photographs shared by your child’s class teacher, alongside you sharing your own photographs from
home.
You will receive an email which will explain that you can download the Homeroom app onto your
devices which will allow you to view and share photographs directly through this app. The email will
look like the one below.

Every time a photograph has been shared into your child’s folder on Homeroom you will receive an
email, like the one below. You can go into the app and view this or click on the green ‘view photo
now’ button on the email. It may ask you to log in using your email address and password you used
to set up Homeroom.
How to share a photograph via the webpage:
To share a photograph via the website go to https://gethomeroom.com/ and log in using your own
details. It will then let you view your albums that you are part of. Click on the album that you wish to
add a photograph or note to.

You will then see the ‘post’ button in the right hand corner. Click on this button and a message will
appear on the screen giving you the options of what you wish to do. You can add a note by clicking
on the ‘Add a note’ button where a text box will appear for you to type up your message. To add a
photograph click the ‘Add Photos’ button and follow the rest of the instructions.
Once you have clicked the ‘Add photos’ button you will see a screen like the picture below. To
upload a photograph from your computer or USB stick click on the ‘Choose a photo…’ link. A pop up
screen will appear allowing you to find and choose the photo that you wish to share. Once you have
chosen your photo and it appears in the ‘Drag photos here!’ section, you can then press the ‘Upload
Photos’ button and your photographs will be shared with your child’

How to share a photograph via a mobile device:
To share a photograph via a mobile device you need to have installed the app first using either the
app store for apple devices or google play for android devices. Once you have downloaded the app,
click on the icon and log in using your own details. It will then let you view your albums that you are
part of. Click on the album that you wish to add a photograph or note to.

You will then see a screen like the image below. At the bottom of the screen you will find a ‘+’ icon.
Once you press this you will be given options of what you want to share in the folder. You add
photographs, videos and messages, just like you can though the webpage.
Once you have clicked on the ‘+’ your options will look like this:
Click on the option depending on what you wish to share. If you choose to add a photograph. You
have to options of taking a new picture using the ‘camera’ option or you can add an existing
photograph using the ‘photos’ option. If you choose the ‘photos’ option you will be redirected to
your camera roll, where you can select the image you wish to share and upload it to the folder. See
below.

You should now be able to share and view your child’s achievements alongside their class teacher.
