ATTACQ WELCOMES DELOITTE TO WATERFALL CITY
WATERFALL GAUTENG (SOUTH AFRICA) – Today Attacq welcomes the announcement
that Deloitte will consolidate their offices in Waterfall, with new head offices that will
be developed at a cost of more than R1 billion. Waterfall City, the CBD of Waterfall, is
rapidly becoming the main corporate consolidation destination in Gauteng.
The development was awarded in a heavily contested tender process, with more
than 15 submissions. The almost 43 000m2 new Deloitte building, named River Creek,
will be developed in a 50/50 joint venture between Attacq and Atterbury.
Morné Wilken, CEO of Attacq says: “Attacq is delighted to welcome a leading and
respected international business brand such as Deloitte to Waterfall City. The new
easily accessible and central location of Waterfall City, between Sandton and
Pretoria, will provide Deloitte with a number of improved efficiencies and cost
savings. We all know that we live in a tough economic climate and businesses need
to find ways to cut costs. To bring the cost of occupancy down is a massive
advantage for companies in these tough economic times.” He explains that several
other large businesses have already realised the value of relocating to Waterfall City
and the business benefits that corporate consolidation brings, these include Group
5, Cell C, Novartis, Honda, Schneider Electric, Premier Foods and PwC.
“The consolidation of our Johannesburg and Pretoria offices into one Gauteng
office in Waterfall City promises to be an exciting journey. We are quickly
outgrowing both existing office spaces and are now in a position to bring together
approximately 3 700 of our people into one custom-designed building in an
attractive corporate destination. The consolidation of our Gauteng offices into one
office will be more than merely occupying a new building. Deloitte is constantly
looking for ways in which our people can make a meaningful impact to our clients,
talent and communities. This move will help us do exactly that by gearing our
operations to attract the best talent and serve our expanding market,” says Mike
Jarvis, the COO of Deloitte.
Waterfall City is South Africa’s largest urban concept development, designed to
provide everything expected of a world-class modern city, with all the
conveniences of a leading-quality urban environment. Sound urbanism principals, as
well as environmental sustainability is a priority in the planning and implementation
of this integrated lifestyle city.
The new Deloitte premises will consist of a ground floor with six stories of offices and
four basement parking levels including nearly 2 000 parking bays. The total
consolidated staff complement to be accommodated in the new building is

approximately 3700, however the building will have the space capacity for a
maximum occupancy of approximately 4900 people. It will be located in a prime
location, right next to the Allandale interchange just off the N1 highway. The offices
will boast exceptional access and visibility, with major highway frontage at the
eastern side of the rapidly sprawling Waterfall City.
The building will include a number of exciting features, including:
 An auditorium, canteen, coffee shop, client meeting rooms, internal meeting
rooms, a greenhouse, as well as other interactive spaces to enable optimal
client and team engagement
 Open-plan architecture that encourages collaboration between service lines
 Innovative collaboration spaces, equipped with cutting edge technology to
drive a culture of teamwork
 A business place that our people and clients from all over Africa will find
welcoming
“As we consolidate our Johannesburg and Pretoria teams, we will be able to fulfil
our important role and commitment to our existing client base in Gauteng – as the
undisputed leader in professional services,” states Jarvis. “This promises to be an
exciting journey, as we discover new opportunities to fuel the growth of the
Gauteng region and make an even more meaningful impact to our clients, people
and communities,” he says.
“Waterfall City offers a lot of promise and exciting prospects with its new status as
Gauteng’s most attractive new corporate headquarters destination, given its central
location in Gauteng. It is also conveniently situated near a variety of amenities
and will enjoy prime position along the Allandale interchange of the N1 highway.
The offices will boast exceptional access and visibility, with major highway frontage
at the eastern side of the bustling and burgeoning Waterfall City,” Jarvis continues.
“The new building will be developed in line with the Waterfall sustainability
approach and principles. The building will be registered with the U.S. Green Building
Council for a Silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating,”
states Wilken.
Bulk earthworks for the project will start in August 2017, with construction
commencing on Deloitte’s new Gauteng office in the final quarter of this year. The
development will be complete in the first quarter of 2020. Deloitte will begin
operating from its new South African base from April 2020.
