Boys’ Basketball
Pingry defeated Belvidere, 72-49, on Thurs., Jan. 26. Mike Weber finished with 28
points while LJ Davidson and Jack Wolfson added 11 points a piece.
Weber and Zach Keller each scored 10 points for Pingry, but Big Blue ultimately fell
to North Plainfield, 72-36, on Tues., Jan. 24.
Girls’ Basketball
With 19 points and 10 rebounds, Megan Horn led Big Blue in its 44-35 victory over
The Hun School on Friday. Kelsey Ransom also added 12 points and six rebounds
while Alyson Feeley had nine points and nine rebounds to secure the victory.
Thanks to the efforts of Horn, who scored 22 points, and Ransom, who added 11,
Pingry scored a 43-41 come-from-behind victory over Mount St. Mary’s Academy on
Thurs., Jan 26.
Despite strong efforts from Horn, with 21 points, and Ally Pyne with 10 points and
10 rebounds, Big Blue fell to Delaware Valley, 57-42, on Tues., Jan. 24.
Boys’ Fencing
On Wed., Jan. 25, Pingry fell to West Windsor-Plainsboro, 17-10.
Girls’ Fencing
In a close match against Princeton Day on Thurs., Jan. 26, Pingry fell, 15-12.
Big Blue defeated West Windsor-Plainsboro, 22-5, on Wed., Jan. 25.
Boys’ Ice Hockey
Big Blue tied rival Hunterdon Central, 2-2, on Friday.
Pingry lost to Mendham High School, 1-0, on Tues., Jan. 24.
Girls’ Ice Hockey
Caroline Petrow-Cohen and Allie Moss each scored twice in Pingry’s 7-0 shutout
against Princeton on Friday. Rose Beatty, Rylie Drozjock, and Clare Hall each had a
goal a piece.
Big Blue had an 8-0 shutout victory against East Side High School on Tues., Jan. 24.
Boys’ Ski Team
Nick Ladino finished 21st overall in Giant Slalom in a race on Thurs., Jan. 26, helping
Pingry finish 6th in the meet.
Girls’ Ski Team
Annie Leithead placed fifth overall and Lindsey Hogan placed sixth in Giant Slalom
to lead Pingry to a 6th-place finish in the team’s meet on Thurs., Jan. 26.
Boys’ Squash
Krish Bhavnani, Sam Scherl, and Chris Zachary each won their matches, 3-0, on
Tues., Jan. 24, contributing to a 5-2 victory over Lawrenceville.
Girls’ Squash
In a tough matchup against state rival Lawrenceville on Wed., Jan. 25, co-captain
Rachel Chen and freshman Renee Chan defeated their opponents 3-0, but Pingry
ultimately fell to its opponent, 5-2.
Boys’ Swimming
Led by Leighton Mayers, who won the 100 butterfly (53:00) and 100 backstroke
(53:02) and led off the winning 200-freestyle relay, Pingry won, 89-81, against
Scotch Plains on Tues., Jan. 24. William Zhang won the 50-freestyle (22:53) and
teammate Victor Vollbrechthausen (49:26) took the 100-freestyle.
Girls’ Swimming
Although Big Blue won six out of eight individual events, in addition to the 200medley relay and 200-freestyle relay on Tues., Jan. 24, Pingry could not hold off the
depth of Scotch Plains-Fanwood, and the team was defeated, 93-77. Claire O’Mara
finished undefeated in her individual events in Pingry’s dual meet season.
Wrestling
In hard-fought battles in the Quad Tournament on Saturday, Pingry ultimately fell to
Cliffside Park (36-30), Hackettstown (52-21), and Ramsey (54-25).
Francis Dillon, Aidan Dillon, and Jack Lyons all won their matches, but Big Blue was
overcome by Belvidere High School, 46-24, on Wed., Jan. 25.
Girls’ Winter Track
Big Blue’s pole vaulting dominance continued at the Skyland Conference meet on
Friday, when Julia Dannenbaum (11’6”), sister Caroline Dannenbaum (who jumped
a new personal best of 11’), and Carol Ann Perry (10’6”) took first, third, and fourth,
respectively. Caroline and Carol Ann are currently ranked #2 and #3, respectively,
in the country among high school freshman vaulters. At the main event on Saturday,
Avery Schiffman (2:32.42) took third in the 800-meter run and Anna Wood
(5:23.12) placed fifth in the 1600.
