General News
The Nursery website has recently been updated,
please have a look. We held a Sports Day on the
5th of July in Kelvingrove Park. Many of you
turned out to cheer on the children, thank you.
The day was a great success, adults and children
had lots of fun and congratulations to the
winners of the many races. In response to the
positive feedback the Sports Day will now be an
annual event. Please find attached Sports Day
photos for your enjoyment.
Many congratulations to Lachlan’s family on the
birth of Maeve and Bronte, Adam’s family on the
birth of Fraser and Shay’s family on the birth of
Caolán.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish
Miss Stefanie every success in her future career.
Stefanie has worked for Derby Street Nursery
since opening in October 2009 and has played a
huge part in the success of the Nursery. Stefanie
will be missed by all, but has promised to keep
in touch.
Buttercup and Daisy Room
Firstly the boys, girls and staff in the Buttercup
and Daisy Rooms would like to welcome Arjun,
we look forward to lots of fun times together.
Throughout July we made the most of the lovely
weather with lots of visits to the park, playing in
the paddling pool in the garden and having
picnics outside. We hope this weather continues
as we further develop the garden and enjoy our
new area.

Bluebell Room
The Bluebell Room children and staff would like
to give Tessa a warm welcome to our room; we
look forward to making lots of fun filled
memories together.
Over the next few weeks the children will have
the opportunity to explore the texture and smell
of coloured sand, scented jelly and sensory
smell bags. We will also be taking learning
outdoors; creating nature pictures using grass,
leaves and flowers and will continue our walks
to listen to the sounds of nature. We have
updated our Art Gallery so please feel free to
come in and view our art work!
Daffodil Room
This month we would like to welcome Daniel to
the Daffodil Room. During July we have taken
full advantage of the sunshine; walks to the park
to see the ducks, playing running games on the
hill and enjoying a ride on a horse and cart. It
was a special Ranger Day and the Clydesdale
Horses from Pollok Park were visiting
Kelvingrove Park. We had lots of fun playing in
the paddling pool in the garden and held a
cowboy themed pool party for Aierts last day
and Miss Maureen’s birthday. We have enjoyed
visits to the Mitchell Library looking at lots of
books and listening to stories. We are
introducing new baby items to our home corner
as some of the children have recently became
big brothers/sisters or are big brothers/sisters in
waiting!

Thistle Room
This month we would like to welcome Haris to the
Thistle Room. We are looking forward to sharing fun
learning experiences with our new friend. This
month we have been making the most of the
beautiful weather; we have enjoyed picnics in the
park and had lots of fun playing in our new paddling
pool. We also went to the park ranger exhibition in
the park, we rode on the horse and cart and
participated in art and craft activities. The children
have displayed an interest in farm animals and we
are planning to take this forward in the coming
month. We have also created an ice-cream parlour,
linking in with our summer topic.
