What`s it like being a young carer?

Young Carers

Young carers are not like most children. They have
responsibilities that other chidren do not have. They
have to look after their mum, dad, sister or brother.
They don’t get to play as much as their friends or go
anywhere fun. Young carers have to do adult things like
buy food, bath you, play with you and do almost
everything with you. They need support. They can go to
a centre sometimes to play and be a child for a short
time.

Young carers have mixed emotions, they are happy to help but sometimes feel
unhappy because they miss out on lots of other things, like just being a child!
