Description:
This -100 square foot design is intended for rain gardens with depths of 5 to 8
inches, The maiority of plants eelected are native to Ohio.
The ilixed Border Rain Garden hae a spine of woody shrubs, with grasses and
colorful perennials arranged strategically for balance, and for color or texture
comblnations. Blooms,foliage or berrieswill color each aeaaon.
In Sun, the featureshrubs are either'Red Sprite' Hollies,or a dark bronze
Ninebark paircd witr a white fiowering native shrub. Graseeearo used for
structure, color, texture and as edging.
In Shade,ferns and the native eyergnoenArborvitae (partshade) or Hemlock
(more shade) take the place of grassee. The Shade garden fieaturesSpicebush
for itE golden fall color and ag food for the Spicebush Swallowtail cabrpillar.
