YOUNGSTERS at St John’s School, in Billericay, are football mad by the looks of it. We dropped by for a chipper chat and to pose some questions about books, careers and life. Harry Redgrave, six Danielle Kanyasa, six Can you tell me about your favourite book, Danielle? “The book I like the best is Dolphins. I love dolphins and if I had a pet dolphin I’d call it Mermaid after the Little Mermaid because she’s my favourite Disney princess.” So we are well into 2014 now, what are you most looking forward to about this year? “I’m most looking 27 forward to my brother’s birthday because it will lots of fun.” Not your own birthday? “Yes, but I am looking forward to my brother’s even more.” And finally, what job do you think you might want to do when you grow up? “I want to be a nurse and make people better. If they are crying, I will look after them, but I don’t know if I will give them injections.” What’s your favourite book, Harry? “My favourite book is Tottenham FC. It’s about my favourite football team – Tottenham! “I don’t really have any books that aren’t about football.” We are in your school’s amazing art room. Can you tell me something about art? “There was a painter called Van Gogh and he ripped off part of his ear!” ‘ When I get older I’m going to be a racing car driver for Formula One So, what are you most looking forward to for 2014? “I’m most looking forward to my birthday in May, because I’m going to go go-karting. When I get older I’m going to be a racing car driver for Formula One, like my hero Sebastian Vettel.” Do you know what your top speed will be? “Yes, I’ll go 244mph!” Dylan Quirk, seven What’s your favourite book about Dylan? “It’s called Soccer Showdowns (Dylan goes on to talk passionately about the intricate details of the book and the rules of football for three minutes without drawing breath). OK, so which football team is Madeline James, seven good at hockey and basketball though.” What’s your favourite book? “My favourite book is Super Duper Dudley. It’s about a boy who pretends he can play the piano, but can’t and he gets found out, but it turns out he’s really good at skateboarding.” So what job do you think you will want to do when you grow up? “I want to be a person that goes to school to inject people with the anti chickenpox!” Oh dear, have you ever told a fib like that? “No, I can’t play the piano and I haven’t told people I can.
