Summary: The Team Leader plays a critical role in the ongoing development of Top Scholars
members and the Top Scholars program. The Team Leader provides direction, instructions and
guidance to a cohort of young black male and young black women Top Scholars participants to
further the goals of YBLA. The Team Leader communicates and monitor participation,
engagement and development of participants.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Facilitate training events to participants following the Top Scholar’s Curriculum
• Facilitate learning through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction
and/or virtual training.
• Continually monitor the effectiveness of programs; recommends new approaches to
improve, update, or enhance the learning experience.
• Coach participants to ensure application of learning
• Raise issues and challenges to the Executive Director as necessary
• Continually evaluate training progress and training procedures to monitored and analyze
course effectiveness and make recommendations to update curriculum as needed
• Provide monthly status updates to ED
Education/Experience:
• Must be available to facilitate workshops during the evening and/or on Saturday
• Associates Degree, 2- 4 years professional experience with training and development,
workshop facilitation, teaching or the equivalent combination of education and experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate and interact
with across multiple generations
• Must be a creative problem solver that is solutions oriented, focused and attentive to
participant needs.
• Strong classroom and facilitation skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing needs
and expectations.
• Must be able to deal with sensitive information and maintain its confidentiality
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Background check and drug screen required to interact with youth
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of instructional design, content development, and learning techniques and
theory.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to communication all levels of
employees.
• Coaching and counseling skills including the ability to give positive and constructive
feedback.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:
• Knowledge of principles and practices related to youth development
• Strong facilitation, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
