WA Japanese Language Speech Contest 2017 Saturday, 9th September, 2017 University of Western Australia This year will be te 48th year that the Australian speech contest has been held. The aim of the contest is to encourage students of Japanese to showcase their language skills in a challenging environment. Winners from the WA competition will progress to the Australian final on Saturday, October 7th 2017 which will be held at the Japan Foundation, Sydney. The 2017 competition is generously sponsored by the Japan Foundation, Sydney, and supported by the Department of Education, Consulate-General of Japan in Perth, and Hyogo Prefectural Government Cultural Centre. Participants are required to submit an English summary of their speech with their application form and a copy of their full speech in Japanese and English one week prior to the contest. High School Senior Division Open Beginner Division Open Division Background Speaker Division Judging criteria will follow the Japan Foundation National Guidelines. Prizes will also be awarded in each division.
