Objectives
The aim of the seminar is to analyze the foundations and the latest developments in competition
economics, both from a theoretical perspective and from the analysis of recent case-law.
The seminar is divided in two parts: The first 5 sessions provide a review of the theoretical foundations of
the economics of competition with a special focus on its practical implementation.
The second part will be devoted to the analysis and discussion of recent competition cases by
practitioners from competition authorities, law firms and economic consulting firms.
The closing lecture will analyze the current and future challenges for competition policy.
Dates, schedule, and venue for 2014 course
First module classes will be held on Wednesdays, March 12nd, 19th and 26th, 2nd and 9th April.
Second module classes will be April 23rd, 30th and May 7th. All the classes will be from 16:30-19:30 on
Campus Madrid-Puerta de Toledo, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Ronda de Toledo, 1.
The sessions will be taught in English.
The closing ceremony will be held on May 14th at 16:30 h.
