Once One Chooses to be a Disciple of Christ, Stewardship is not an Option.
The grief of a mother losing her child can rarely be overcome. In the time of Elijah the Prophet he witnessed the death of
the young son of a widow. Elijah exhibited his faith in God by asking that the life breath return to the child. When the
living boy was returned to his mother, she recognized that Elijah was a man of God. In the gospel Jesus comes to Nain
and encounters a funeral procession for the son of a widow. He has pity on the widow and brought the man back to life.
These signs display the power of God and his abundant mercy. For our part, we recognize the works of God that beckon
us forward on our life’s journey to the kingdom of heaven. May we keep in mind God’s power and his loving mercy.

St. Boniface, known as the apostle of the Germans, was an English Benedictine monk who gave up being elected abbot to
devote his life to the conversion of the Germanic tribes. Two characteristics stand out: his Christian orthodoxy and his fidelity to
the pope of Rome. Boniface bears out the Christian rule: To follow Christ is to follow the way of the cross. For Boniface, it was
not only physical suffering or death, but the painful, thankless, bewildering task of Church reform. Missionary glory is often
thought of in terms of bringing new persons to Christ. It seems—but is not—less glorious to heal the household of the faith.

vacation. We are in dire need of chicken noodle soup and vegetable soup, both of which can be purchased for 65 cents a can at Dollar General. We also need
large cans of chicken, available at Walmart. Please see what you can do to help the families in need, located in Goddard and the surrounding area. Items may be
left in the food pantry bins in the hospitality area.
