JONATHAN RODRIGUEZ NAMED SOUTHERN LEAGUE HITTER OF THE WEEK (7/3-7/9)
Hit .500 (15-for-30) with a homer, five doubles, seven runs and five RBIs
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Southern League has announced that Lookouts player Jonathan Rodriguez
has been named the Southern League Player of the Week (7/3-7/9).
Jonathan Rodriguez had a dynamite week for the Lookouts, smashing 15 hits in just 30 at-bats. In seven
games the first baseman recorded four multi-hit games and compiled an OPS of 1.312. His biggest night of
the week came on July 4th. In that 14 contest Rodriguez smacked two doubles and a homer. He also drove
in the winning run in the 14th inning to give the Lookouts the walk-off win. Five nights later, he produced his
second four-hit night of the week against Pensacola, going 4-for-5 with two runs and a double.
Rodriguez’s monster week has raised his batting average to a team-high .305 on the year. In 16 second half
games the San Juan, Puerto Rico native has hit .441 (26-for-59) with four homers, six doubles and 14 RBIs.
His .441 second half batting average is the highest in the league and his 14 RBIS is tied for the most in that
span.
Tonight, Rodriguez and the First Place Champion Lookouts aim to improve to 11-1 against the Pensacola Blue
Wahoos in game two of their four game series. Game time in Pensacola is set for 7:35 p.m. eastern time.
Chattanooga returns home on Thursday for an exciting five game series that includes a Fireworks Friday and
a visit from XPogo (Extreme Pogo Entertainment) on Saturday. Fans can purchase tickets to this homestand
