Name: Date: Jonathan Alder Soccer Association Mar 12-18 Mesocycle: Team: Spring 2016 Mini Microcycle/Day: Week 0, day 2 TRAINING OBJECTIVE(S): The purpose of this training week is to asesss the players, introduce the coaches to the academy format and the drills. This practice includes the standard warm-up, an introduction to dribbling, a fun game that teaches dribbling, shielding, control, and running with the ball. I. WARM-UP 1- players dribble in area weaving in and out of each other. Coach calls area of foot. 2. Foot drills: Tic toc, pull push, toe tap, sole role, magic trick, scrub the dirt. 3. Juggle: drop the ball to the foot, kick the ball up and catch. Same with thigh. Increase repititions as capable. 4. Technical dribble: players on line and dribble to opposite line - return. Include tic toc, roll forward, pull back, side role. Activity Time: LOW Intensity: Recovery Time: 10 min 4 Duration: Intervals: ORGANIZATION (Physical Environment / Equipment / Players) 20'x20' area; 1 ball per player; ~8 players. Place half (4) of the players on two sides of the box at a right angle. Players dribble to other side of box, turn around and return to the starting side = 1 lap. The players cross each other's path. Most laps wins. 3 intervals small box & 3 intervals with large box. II. SMALL-SIDED ACTIVITY Activity Time: MED 1 min Intensity: Recovery Time: 12 min 6 1 min Duration: Intervals: ORGANIZATION (Physical Environment / Equipment / Players) Kris Kross. 4 cones to make small box 15'x15' and a large box 21'x21'. 1 ball per player. Players shoot at the coach(es). If the ball strikes the coach, the player picks an animal that the coach must immitate for a few seconds. The coach(es) move to avoid the balls - to match the skills of the players. As players skills improve, the coach moves more quickly and zig-zags more aggressively. Move more slowly for some players if skills limited. III. EXPANDED ACTIVITY Activity Time: MED 3 Intensity: Recovery Time: 12 3 1 Duration: Intervals: ORGANIZATION (Physical Environment / Equipment / Players) Kick the coach. 25'x25'. 1 ball per player. Incorporate a parent if only one coach is available. Coach(es) carry two soccer balls and when ball goes out of play, quickly returns a ball onto the field of play by hand and announces “new ball”. This is done immediately by a coach with the express purpose of preventing any stoppage in play. Roll the ball (do NOT bounce the ball) onto the field. Activity Time: IV. GAME HIGH 4 Intensity: Recovery Time: 20 4 1 Duration: Intervals: ORGANIZATION (Physical Environment / Equipment / Players) 4v4 to a goal. 25x15 yard field with goals or cones. 1 ball in play. Coach(es) carry one or two soccer balls to put into play. 2 min 0 COACHING POINTS / KEY CONCEPTS 1-emphasize different foot surfaces. 2-assist in performing correctly. 3-correct shape of foot and leg, surface striking ball. 4-asist in performing correctly, move only as fast as can perform correctly. COACHING POINTS / KEY CONCEPTS 1. Demonstrate simple pull back turn. 2. Keep ball close for control. 3. Keep head up to avoid other players. 4. Move to the open space especially in the larger box.
