ASIA Tic-Tac-Toe Assignment INSTRUCTIONS: In order to successfully complete this assignment, you will play tic-tac-toe. You must accomplish three in a row in order to have a completed assignment grade. Construct a model of a place or an object that is located in an Asian country. (You may use technology to create a 2D model, or construct a 3-D model from materials you find around the house.) It could be a building or anything that would be an example of Asian culture like a bridge or a statue, etc. Create labels that explain what your model is. Make sure to give information about what it is, where it is, and why it is important to Asian culture. Find out why people in this country eat this particular dish or why they might use these ingredients- think about geography and climate for this one and use Culturegrams to help you. Cook the dish at your house or try it at a restaurant. Write a 3 paragraph explanation that includes the information about the country, the recipe, the ingredients, and the cultural and geographical connections. Also include your impression of the dish and whether or not you would recommend it to a friend. You can either type and print or type and email your writing to your teacher. You must also include a typed works cited in MLA format. 3. SPORTS in ASIA ■ ■ ■ ■ Select a sport to learn about that is played in Asia. Answer the following questions about your sport: “Why people in Asia play this sport. How is is played? What are the rules? Where did this sport originate?” Incorporate a video or image or series of images or do a demonstration to the class about the sport. Create a typed works cited in correct MLA format to your teacher showing the sources you got your information from. Either type it and print it or email it to your teacher. 6. CREATE A MAP of ASIA ■ ■ ■ ■ Create a map that shows examples of 10 important cultural tourist attractions within one or more Asian countries. (You can create the map by hand or with technology- see your teacher for advice if needed.) Label each location in its correct location. Create a key that goes along with your map that explains why each place you have chosen is important or interesting as an example of the culture in its location. CREATE ASIAN ART ■ ■ ■ ■ Identify art from any Asian country/culture of your choice and recreate it. Your artistic image should include captions that communicate what the image is, how it was created, why it was created, and details about the culture or country that it is from. Your images should be of publishable quality and should contain color if necessary. You must also include a typed works cited in MLA format so we know where you got your information.
