reminders where words belong, and read through again.
– Repeat until all words are erased and children can recite.
• Post to refrigerator or snack cabinet door.
– Read through the Q&A two times before having a snack or drink.

–
Before each meal
While washing hands
While brushing teeth
Each morning
Before bedtime
• Say it over and over
– soft, medium, loud, x-loud
• “You Say What I Say” (Verbal “Simon Says”)
– use different voicing styles including regional/national accents, opera,
formal, country, western, animals, or giant.
Explain Memory Work
it is difficult to memorize if you don’t
understand what you are memorizing.
• Make sure children know each word/phrase they are
memorizing.
– Q. What does it mean to ‘love God and others’?
A. To love God and others means to treat them with real care, humility, and loyal
kindness. Philippians 2:3b – In lowliness of mind let each esteem others better
than themselves (KJV).
– Explain words/phrases like: Real Care, Humility, Loyal Kindness, Lowliness of
Mind, Esteem
• Do not expect word perfect.
– We want to make sure the child understand what he/she is reciting, not that
every word is exactly the way it is written.
– Why? We are concerned more about quality learning than perfection.
Make it FUN – varying the
techniques to fit learning style needs
of all children.
• “You say what I say.” (Verbal Simon Says)
– Animals, region, music
• Active (MOVE!)
– Fly, march, swim, waddle
• Rhythm – “Sing” or Clap to a rhythm or beat
• Sing to a tune - vary the styles
– Opera, Western, Southern, Country
• Visual
– write on board/glass and erase a word/phrase at a time.
• Count – count lists within an answer or verse
– God is 1. all powerful, 2. all knowing, 3. everywhere at the same time.
