Serving and passing are the keys to
winning a match. This drill accomplishes
this by rewarding a tough but accurate
serve and on-target passes by using
scoring to take advantage of player’s
competitive spirit.

•Serves must be tough to force a bad pass
but must not result in an error
Player 1 serves 3-5 balls in succession then rotates to 5. Players 2, 3, 4 and 5
move up one spot.
•Passes must be on target to get maximum
points
Player 2 hands balls to 1.
•Setter must hustle to the ball to get a good
set to the passer
Players 3, 4, 5 and 10 shag and give balls to 2.
Players 7, 8, and 9 pass to 6 and prepare to receive back row set.
Player 6 sets back row attack to passer then goes to 10
Passer takes the place of 6 after passing. Player 10 takes the place of the
passer.
Only passers score, Everyone keeps track. 1 point for a service error or ball
settable with hands. 2 points for a perfect pass for which 6 does not have to
move more than one step
After player 5 completes serves, teams switch sides and repeat drill.
High score wins
•The drill runs quickly. As soon as player 1
serves, player 2 gives them another ball.
Player 1 serves another ball as soon as
previous ball is cleared and passers are
ready.
•Players should call for the ball
•Players 7,8,and 9 should call to 6 to help 6
get off an accurate set.
