BRIAN HODGES HEALTH CAREER MODEL AMY BAYNE KAYLA WALLACE JENNA SHULER AMANDA FOX HEALTH CAREER MODEL • Model was created in the 1980’s • Developed in North West of England by Brian Hodges • Conceptual framework that is person-centered and situation based (Doyle & Jones, 2013) • Patients are people with lives, beliefs, and relationships that extend beyond the diagnosis that is given((Doyle & Jones, 2013) HEALTH CAREER MODEL • Brian Hodges created the model with four purposes in mind 1. To produce a curriculum development tool 2. Help assure holistic care 3. Support reflective practice • When creating the model he asked himself these questions: 1. Who are the recipients of care? 2. What types of activities and tasks do nurses carry out? 4. Reduce the theory-practice gap (Doyle & Jones, 2013) (Doyle & Jones, 2013) This model has not been prominent since its beginning, however, the 21st century is bringing a new outlook!
