EBRINGTON NURSERY
JUNE NEWSLETTER
Monthly Theme: The theme for this month is summer, Minibeasts, holidays, moving to Year 1.
Mini-Beasts: Life cycle of caterpillar. Naming and observing worms, snails, ladybirds, bees etc.
Holidays: We will be discussing holidays, going to the sea-side, etc.
Colour: Purple and revision of all colours.
Teddy Bears Picnic: We will be taking the children and their teddies on a picnic. Each child will
need a small named teddy to leave in school.
Garden: Throughout the month we will be planting seeds and caring for our garden. If you could
help us with weeding and keeping the garden, we would be most appreciative.
Transition: We will be working closely with Year 1 this month to ensure a smooth transition. This
will include; visits to their new classroom/play room, Assembly, Playground and Canteen.
Suggested activities to do with your child at home:
* Talk to your child about moving to Primary School and their new teacher. This is a very
important time for your child. Be positive in your conversations and support your child
during the settling in period.
* The most important gift you can give your child is TIME. Even a short amount of quality
time each day away from T.V. and computer games will help his/her development and
provides further opportunities for attention & listening.
* Go for a walk and look for mini-beasts - under stones, logs etc.

Hidden inside
Where nobody sees
Soon they’ll come creeping
Out of the hive
One, two, three, four, five
Ladybird Ladybird
Ladybird, ladybird fly away home
Your house is on fire and your children all gone
All but the youngest, whose name is Anne
And she hid under the frying pan
The Big Ship Sails
The big ship sails through the Alley, Alley O; The Teddy Bears’ Picnic
Alley, Alley O, Alley Alley O,
If you go down to the woods today
The big ship sails through the Alley Alley O You’re sure of a big surprise
One the last day of September
If you go down to the woods today
You’d better go in disguise
The Captain said “It will never, never do;
For every bear that ever there was
Never never do; never never do” etc…
Will gather there for certain because
Today’s the day the Teddy Bears
The big ship sank to the bottom of the sea
Have their picnic
The bottom of the sea; the bottom of the sea etc.
We all dip our heads in the deep blue sea;
The deep blue sea; the deep blue sea etc…
Down by the sea-side
Down by the sea-side where I like to be
Watching all the waves splash over me
My bucket and my spade, and my glass of lemonade
Happy to be down by the sea-side
