Team Transplant Ireland Manager – SEAMUS EAGER
Hi All,
Tempus Fugit and all that. Only a couple of weeks until we meet at the Airport on another
journey together to promote Organ Donor Awareness.
Apeldoorn 2012 will be what we make
it, so lets make it a good one as we are all winners before we even go. The fact that we are going
and able to compete in many sporting fields shows that Organ donation works. Let us Honour our
Donors and Donors everywhere by competing to the best of our ability. If we win a medal of any
description it is a bonus. If we can raise Organ Donor awareness by our efforts we will have done a
duty to those waiting for transplantation.
Once there I have requested a notice board in our hotel. This should be checked to get times and
places of events. Travel to events will be confirmed once we are there. The notice board will
update as to how all our finely tuned Athletes are progressing.
My right hand man and Assistant
Team Manager is Robert McCutcheon and we will be both happy to help and advise in any way we
can. Anyone who needs any information can contact me on 0872574362.

A message from the IHLTA Chairperson
– Brendan Gilligan
I am delighted to say that we have 38 people travelling to the 14 th European Heart and Lung
Transplant Games in Apeldoorn for what we know will be a most enjoyable week.
All arrangements are in place and our allocated hotel which is in a beautiful setting can be viewed online at
www.tulipinndeveluwe.com. We hope to have all sports attire distributed to everyone in the days before we leave,
before departure or on arrival in Apeldoorn.
We welcome those who may be travelling with us for the first time and hope their experience will be an enjoyable one.
During your stay if there is anything we can do to make it more enjoyable please let us know as we value your support to
the games and indeed to our association.
Finally, let us not forget that one of the purposes of the games is to promote Donor Awareness and to show that those of
us who have been fortunate enough to receive a life saving organ transplant can go on to lead a healthy active life thanks
to the generosity and compassion of our Donors , their families and loved ones to whom we are eternally grateful for the
most wonderful gift of all
THE GIFT OF LIFE.
Brendan
Things to Know:
Tracksuits: A tracksuit will be provided for those going to the games. A lightweight games t shirt will also be
supplied and anyone who has polo shirts from previous years can bring them along.
One of the main aims of our Association is to create donor awareness and we don’t want to let this opportunity
to go by. We hope to have some media presence at the airport and would ask that people will wear the
team tracksuit. This is an important time for us to remember not only our Donors but those who still await a life
saving transplant. Every bit of publicity could make a difference to somebody.
It may be useful to bring along a pair of your own navy track suit bottoms that fit you comfortably. Track suit
bottoms traditionally cause the most problems when issued in standard sizes as they don’t cater for longer or
shorter legs or wider or narrower waistlines! So if you generally have specific size requirements, or even if you
don’t! bring along a spare pair you know and love just in case!!
Bridge Night : A Bridge tournament will be held on Thursday 28th June in Apeldoorn for anyone who plays
bridge. Partnerships should consist of one transplant recipient, but all are welcome to enter. Contact our
own Committee member David Berber on 0857484174 for further information or to put your name down.
David will need to have names in advance so do it now! The tournament will be open to participants from all
countries and should be a great night.
Weather: The average temp for Amsterdam for June is a high of 21 and a low of 11 – so pack your sun cream
and your sweater!
Committee travelling to Apeldoorn: Brendan Gilligan (Chairman), Robert McCutcheon (Treasurer),
Romy Moloney (Secretary), David Berber, Bren Moloney (Committee Members)
Email addresses: It would be very helpful to have an email address for everyone. If you can drop an email to
me at [email protected] I will add yours to the list. This will also help with arrangements for delivery
and collection of tracksuits to everyone the weekend before we leave.
See you at the airport: 11.30am for those going on the 1.30pm flight. Some are going earlier – so check your
tickets to make sure you get the right time for you!
Final training day, for anyone interested, will take place in ALSAA on Sunday June 17th at 11.30
