QUALITY AND TRAINING CO-ORDINATOR
Background to the Post
The Environment Partnership (TEP) Limited is a multi-disciplinary environmental
consultancy. It employs landscape architects, ecologists, planners, arboriculturists and other
professional and technical staff on a wide range of projects. You can read more about out

We presently employ around 110 members of staff with three Directors and managers of our
professional and business support teams. Our team managers are Principal Consultants
and have a portfolio of projects in addition to their team management responsibilities. Other
Principal Consultants are specialists and we have a structure of Seniors, Consultants and
Graduates. Team managers are responsible for ensuing their teams are appropriately
trained and undertake personal development, understand and follow appropriate procedures,
deliver projects to high standards, and invoice our clients for agreed payments for services.
We have a head office in Warrington, Cheshire and satellite offices in Gateshead, Milton
Keynes and Kent. We have a wide network of sub-consultants, particularly to deliver our
national framework of services to the Homes and Communities Agency.
Since its inception in 1997, TEP has invested in and developed a series of Quality
Management Systems to help us in achieving and maintaining an array of external
accreditations. These include Quality Assurance, Health and Safety, and Environmental
accreditations; Investors in People; Carbon Neutrality; and accredited status with a number
of professional institutes.
The Role and Requirements
We have identified an opportunity for a person to join the business on a part-time basis to
take overall responsibility for accreditation for Quality; Environment; Health and Safety;
Carbon Neutrality; and IIP across the Warrington, Gateshead and Milton Keynes offices.
We are looking for someone who can also take overall responsibility for identification,
ensuring implementation, and appropriate recording of staff training including induction,
administration and professional training and continuing professional development.
The key accountabilities and interactions for this role are to:

Report to and take direction from the Directors; and liaise with TEP’s Business
Manager;

Liaise with Skill Team Managers and Skills Development Managers on training
requirements and implementation;

Liaise with Business Support on records keeping;

Liaise with the IT team on digital systems, recording and reporting; and

Work alongside the Business Manager to provide advice and training to team
managers as appropriate.
The following are examples of activities and outputs expected from this role:












Secure accreditation for Quality; Environment; Health and Safety; Carbon Neutrality
and IIP for Milton Keynes and Gateshead offices commensurate with Warrington
office.
Review existing systems to ensure all are contemporary and have up-to-date
references throughout.
Review the existing systems and make recommendations to minimise duplication and
to implement the highest efficiency whilst meeting required standards, good practice
and statutory requirements.
Keep systems for ensuring Quality; Environment; Health and Safety; Carbon
Neutrality and IIP accreditation and good practice under continual review to improve
where appropriate.
Prepare reports and evidence for audits and demonstrations of compliance and good
practice.
Undertake internal audits (or where appropriate accompany an internal auditor to
monitor compliance and prepare evidence as required for maintaining accredited
standards.
Prepare and maintain model answers and examples related to Quality; Environment;
Health and Safety; Sustainability; Carbon Neutrality; and Training for submissions the
business makes to win work and qualify for tenders and select lists.
Review TEP’s training records and systems to recommend changes to develop and
efficient means of identifying and meeting skills development and recording
achievement.
Implement, maintain and improve as appropriate an approved system of identifying
and meeting skills development and recording achievement.
Monitor and report on skills development including expenditure, budgets and value
from training to feed into future recommendations and improvement.
Undertake induction of new employees.
Other duties commensurate with role of this level.
Person Specification
Essential:
 Excellent communication skills.
 Self-motivated.
 Familiar with management systems implemented for external accreditation (ISO9001;
OH SAS 18001; ISO 14001 etc.)
 Ability to prioritise and manage work workload.
 Computer literacy in MS Office.
 Attention to detail.
 Ability to work well alone and also as part of a team.
Desirable:
 Skills developed whilst in a Training co-ordination/Quality role.
The successful candidate may already be a member or eligible for membership of a relevant
