Slide: Rejoice in the Revelation of God
Slide in: Luke 1:13-14 13 But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has
been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. 14 He will be a
joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth…
Slide in: Luke 1:44-45 44 For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby
in my womb leaped for joy. 45 And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of
what was spoken to her from the Lord.” ESV
Slide in: Slide: Luke 2:10-14 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good
news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been
born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped
in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with
the angel, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to
those on whom his favor rests.”
Slide: Respond to the Revelation of God
Slide in: Luke 2:15-16 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds
said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord
has told us about.” 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was
lying in the manger.
Slide in: Matthew 2:10-11 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
11
And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and
worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and
myrrh.

Slide: Rejoice in the Word of God
Slide in: John 1:1-5, 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without
him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all
mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it…. 14 The Word
became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one
and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Slide: When Gabriel asked Mary to risk her future and even her life by becoming the mother of
the Son of God, he assured her that "nothing will be impossible with God." So Mary responded,
"Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word" (Luke 1:37-38).
Slide in: Psalm 19:7-8 7 The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees
of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. 8 The commandments of the Lord are
right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.

Slide in: 9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you
keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and
remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be
complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

Slide: Revel in the Joy of God
Slide in: 3 John 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
Slide in: Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will
take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with
singing.”
Slide in: Luke 15:4-7 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them.
Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?
5
And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls
his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell
you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than
over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
Slide: Receive the Rebirth of God
Slide in: John 1:11-13 NLT 11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. 12 But to
all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are
reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes
from God.
Slide: Repent and Run with Joy
Slide in: Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of
witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin
that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do
this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of
the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place
of honor beside God’s throne. 3 Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you
won’t become weary and give up. NLT
Slide: Repeat the Sounding Joy
Slide in: Luke 2:17-20 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had
been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said
to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The
shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which
were just as they had been told.

worthwhile.” When we focus on the arrival and find joy in the journey, our faith is our greatest
witness to a despairing, struggling world. Max Lucado and Jim Denison
